HUP Monitoring Possible Ebola Patient

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A potential Ebola patient has reportedly arrived at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Susan Phillips, SVP for Public Affairs, released a statement on Friday that reads:

“Preparations for the possibility of caring for a patient with the Ebola virus have been underway for several months at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). A patient who recently returned from West Africa is currently being evaluated in a special isolation room at HUP. The patient is stable and we believe the risk of Ebola is quite low.”

HUP is one of the area’s designated Ebola treatment centers.
