This sounds like one nasty bacteria, which "gets under the skin and slowly eats its way through the skin and the
tissue underneath a limb until it's treated. The longer you leave it the
worse it gets, it's a progressive, destructive infection"
Currently it is circulating in Victoria Australia, and heading to epidemic levels (well at least 3 times higher than three years ago - but still I think quite small numbers).
