Two female Zika cases in Nebraska?   These travelers are all not get bitten by mosquitoes, lol.   From now on if my lady wants to travel alone, no way.   LOL    Too many flings when they travel alone (or hookups as the younger folk say).   I've known a few married women who would actually cheat on their spouses when they traveled alone, and men, well, probably a lot more.   Not to mention when they're single traveling with friends.    The CDC better come out with those condom guidelines soon.   The airlines should pass them out for free when landing in Rio.

Two cases of Zika virus reported in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. —Two travel-related Zika virus cases have been reported to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the first cases in the state, the department said in a release.

One of the cases was reported in Douglas County and the other was reported in Sarpy County. Both people involved are females in their 20s who recently traveled to Zika-affected countries.

Neither person was hospitalized, according to the release.

"Seeing a travel-related case of Zika in Nebraska is new but not unexpected," Dr. Tom Safranek, state epidemiologist for DHHS, said in the release. "It's very possible that we could see more travel-related cases here. This is a rapidly evolving situation, in the geographical distribution of Zika virus and what we know about its impact on human health."

For years, doctors thought Zika was no different than a mild illness. Those infected got a fever, a headache, some joint pain and a rash.

Now the virus is linked to birth defects and neurological problems.

"The possible links, only recently suspected, have rapidly changed the risk profile of Zika from a mild threat to one of alarming proportions," said Dr. Margaret Chan, director-general of the WHO. "The increased incidence of microcephaly is particularly alarming, as it places a heartbreaking burden on families and communities."
