Is there anyway to get ONE PREP list in one place on the forum. I see bits and pieces all over this site, but what we all need is a comprehensive list of everything we can print off and take to the store. Does someone have a list made or can we start one? I would really appreciated it and I know other people would love to compare what they have already purchased to this list. Thanks so much! |

Hope, What you ask for is a wonderful idea in theory but people's situations and circumstances all differ, as do their wallets, and commitment thresholds. I wouldn't presume to tell you what you needed to do. SZ |

Hi All, Just registered here although I've been lurking for quite some time. Hope asked a good question, so I figured I would jump in to provide a link that could be useful for her needs. I haven't used this myself, but it seems to cover all the basics to make developing the shopping list pretty simple. And, you can print it out as an Excel spreadsheet. Here's the link: http://millennium-ark.net/News_Files/LTAH_Food_Store5.html I hope this helps. Good Luck!

I agree that it's a great resource for foodstores, and some other things. One of the tricky parts is that much is still unknown about how H5N1 will hit us, and the best ways to prevent getting it. Because the mortality rate is so high, prevention is the best bet. Spend some time reading the thousands of posts here, and at other sites, picking out what makes sense to you. Among the items that everyone seems to agree on, in addition to food and water are: N95 or better Respirator Masks, Pneumonia Shot, Clorine-based products such as Clorox Wipes, Vitamins, Over-the-counter Flu Remedies to ease discomfort, High Level of Home Security, and the big one: Toilet Paper !

The best answer to this is: is to prep what you eat and eat what you prep...which means expand your everyday grocery list and rotate what you have purchased....there are a few basic lists around...but get what your family is use to eating, during a time as an emergency you do not want to alter their diets to much as this could case alot of problems...and yes every family prepparing will be different, in my instance I have severe food allergies(to the point of shock) I cannot eat any type of onion or peppers...or mushrooms...they cannot even be dehydrated...my kids and I have learned to live and eat thie way and if I started introducing these foods during an emergency..they would probably rather starve(they have seen me go into shock and they repfer to stay away from those foods). ok a basic list Water |

Hope: You can go to sites that sell one-year food supplies for long term storage and print off their lists of the minimum one person 'needs' for a year (the minimum I personally would suggest to stockpile). I printed off about a dozen from different sites and used them to help develop our own list. Examples: http://www.honeyvillegrain.com Best wishes - cupcake mom |

I know we are all different, but I figured there had to be some type of list where there are items most everyone agreed upon. I just don't want to miss something! I have Tamilflu and ten Respirator Masks (just received in mail). I'm thinking that probably isn't enough masks (?). I have enough food and water for 3 months. But I don't have several other things I just found out about after reading this (shots, Clorox Wipes, more toilet paper, etc.) . Thanks so much for replying!! I know nothing about the "Pneumonia Shot". This is something everyone agrees we should get? My family got flu shots but I haven't even heard of this other shot. Can I hear about this?
