One of the many things one can learn from Fukushima is that governments want to control the "(des)information" in nuclear accidents.

The south of Japan is seeing seismic and (super)volcanic activity. There are several nuclear plants in this region. The coming days will tell how much damage there is.

to copy a reaction:For what it is worth,I am of the opinion, because the Earthquake activity continued on a line which would be a continuation of the

intersection of the Ninagu and Futagawa faults, that,in a real sense, the fault could literally cut the island in half, magma could surge up the fissure forming dikes and sills, with adjacent volcanoes erupting in ash and lava,as the ocean rushes in to fill the fault and fracture gap,and adjacent low lying areas. Meanwhile the Nuclear Reactors….

“It’s appropriate to think of the Hinagu and Futagawa fault zones as connected active faults. The earthquake on Saturday occurred in conjunction with the quakes that have happened from Thursday on, so it appears that part of a very large fault moved,” Suzuki said.

DJ: Also other good reactions, this earthquake of magnitude 7(+?) was supposed to be less than 1% chance. The 2011 M9 quake was believed to be impossible. Assumptions were very incorrect. Even the not-active nuclear reactors (and storage sites etc.) pose a threath. The main problems with the present situation as far as I know:

1. Quakes may continue for a while-the reactors in Japan were not build for the risks they face.

2. Information about leaks etc, damage will not come from both the owners of nuclear plants or the Japanese government. Both obstruct fact-finding.

It can take some time before "the world" get to know more facts concerning Japanese nuclear safety. The chances that this latest M7 quake (and the proces of quakes later on)  did not do that much damage to the nuclear facilities seem to be limited. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-04-17/japans-economy-grinds-halt-after-earthquake-paralyzes-critical-supply-chains
