Compound exponential? Or just one of those groupings of a day that took several days to group? Which would still give the same curve you've just shown, only smoother. The doubling period should get progressively smaller as the numbers go up due to the ever greater risk to be exposed by the increasingly infected. We're not only talking doubling at A B C and D but also A jumping to C and then F and then L... Short of a miracle cure or act of God, we're going to eventually see a million infections in one day.
