Muslims from all over the world extends our sincere sympathies and condolences to the victims of the horrible shooting that took place in Orlando, Florida, and to their families. As Muslims we believe that all life is sacred, and we maintain our commitment to that ethic as people of faith. Thus we share the horror and pain that all Americans are feeling over this evil and senseless act.

Because Islam neither justifies nor condones such atrocities, we are particularly outraged when such deeds are committed in the name of our faith. We believe this particular crime is best viewed as the act of a deranged and maladjusted individual.


Those who commit murder in the name of Islam do not represent Muslims, and in fact their actions are a betrayal of Islamic values and a violation of the tenets of Islam. Further, they generate hatred towards Islam, provoke retaliation against Muslims, and lend credence to those who would misrepresent the Qur'an and The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as instruments or advocates of wanton violence and terror.

Like every act of violence causing death – war, civil war or terrorist related, Orlando attack killing more than 50 persons must be condemned by one and all. The attack is one of the mass shootings that recurrently happen in the United States. In the year 2016 the number of mass shootings crossed 400 mark killing more than 1200 persons. (The term “Mass Shooting” applies when there are 3 or more victims.) But the Orlando attack was special in many ways. The number of the people killed was more than any attack in recent history. The target was a gay club. And the fact which makes it really “special” is that the perpetrator was a Muslim. ISIS seems to have scored a propaganda point by claiming that Omar was its man in the States. But all the accounts appearing in the press so far seem to suggest that it was an act of frustration by a man with deranged mentality. And more than anything else, it again raises questions on America’s gun policy, which despite increasingly larger number of mass shootings and Obama’s high-pitched campaign against it, continues unaltered. When the interests of the market are at stakes, even the President of America cannot do anything.

I 'll keep this brief. Donald Trump doubled down on his outrageous proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States. As the country grieves for the victims of the horrific mass shooting in Orlando, which claimed 50 lives and injured dozens more, it is shameful that politicians would exploit this tragedy to attack Muslims and fan the flames of anti-Muslim hysteria.

We've had enough of this senseless violence, we've had enough of bigoted politicians on both sides who use these incidents to target Muslims and divide our communities, and we've had enough of the reckless and biased media that blames Islam and Muslims any time someone with a Muslim name commits a crime.

Killing innocent peoples is nothing to do with Islam."In Islam there is no commandment to kill people by making such allegations against them. The cartoonists had exercised their freedom of expression, and freedom of expression is totally allowed in Islam. Even during the Prophet's time there were several instances of ridicule, however the Prophet and his Companions neither punished such persons nor asked anyone to do so. On every occasion of this kind, the Prophet's Companions always tried to positively disseminate the message of Islam. They never tried to punish these people. The killing of those people who had published the cartoons is a gravely un-Islamic act in the name of Islam. What did killing Saddam Husain do. What did killing Osama Bin laden do? NOTHING!!!. There is a long long line of replacements. I don't know the answers. He was asked by MI5 to join them...so you know he is working for them.

The shooting in Orlando on June 12th demonstrated features that were present in many recent terrorist acts. For example the suspect was quickly killed and the official account immediately attempted to blame the attacks on Islam. However, as with most terrorist suspects in the U.S., Omar Mateen had been closely followed by the FBI. He also worked for a company suspected of engaging in prior terrorist events.

Mateen was well known to the FBI. In fact the Bureau had interviewed him several times and had evaluated his potential for terrorism on at least three occasions. This fact is noteworthy considering that both before 9/11, and since then, FBI leaders appear to have facilitated or manufactured terrorist acts.

Although U.S. authorities claim that Mateen pledged allegiance to ISIS “in the midst of the attack,” Mateen’s family were surprised at the claim that he had any connection to a radical terrorist group. In fact, they said he was not particularly religious. Initial reports suggest that the mass murderer in Orlando, Florida was bi-polar, deranged, a heavy steroid user, a wife beater, cheater and emotionally unstable. He hated blacks and gays and often referred to homosexuals as "faggots and queers." He also happened to be Muslim. The terror group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the death of 50 innocent Americans.

More likely than not, ISIS had nothing to do with the mass killings in Orlando but claimed responsibility to enhance their credibility by portraying their global reach. More likely than not, Omar Mateen acted alone and his actions were similar to the actions of all other deranged killers who kill a large number of Americans every year or two. If his actions are similar to the actions of other mass killers in America, it would be disingenuous and hypocritical to focus on his Muslim faith since Americans usually do not focus on the faith of other mass killers in the United States.

The real danger of this recent mass murder is that it may have exposed to foreign terrorists the ease with which one can kill numerous people in the United States. Thus, the United States needs to act. Whether ISIS had anything to do with the Orlando killings or not, they should be punished since they claimed responsibility and because they need to be stopped before their barbaric and extremely violent ideology spreads to other countries. We need to show ISIS and other potential foreign killers, who have thoughts of attacking the United States, that we will not tolerate any attack on American soil. Those Americans who are considered "faggots and queers" are still Americans and we need to fight to preserve their right to live in peace and without violence.

The mass shooting at the Pulse Orlando nightclub is the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. According to Orlando officials, Omar Mateen shot and killed at least 49 people and injured 53 more when he opened fire on an estimated 320 people at the nightclub. Omar Mateen, 29, seems to have deliberately targeted the venue because it was a gay club. His father said a recent incident in Miami in which a gay couple were kissing in front of his wife and son made him very angry. Omar Mateen who lives in Fort St Lucia is the shooter. He family was from Afghanistan. There is only one developed country in the world that allows civilians to buy military style automatic weapons. There is only one developed country were massacres with those type of weapons happen again and again and again.

Mateen is a U.S. citizen, born to parents who emigrated from Afghanistan, according to ABC News. Mateen’s father told NBC News that the shooting “had nothing to do with religion.” “We are apologizing for the whole incident,” Seddique said.

Soon after the FBI announced the identified Mateen as the shooter, many people on social media tweeted their reactions of the shooters’ faith, registered political party linking the shooting to Islam and the Democratic Party.

Mateen was a professional security officer who had a license to carry a firearm, according to BuzzFeed News. Orlando police said he legally purchased the AR-15 used in the attack last week.

Meanwhile, some American Muslims condemned the gunman and the shooting on social media. Backlash and increased Islamophobia against Muslims started to take place after what seems to be constant media coverage of the mass shooting committed by a Muslim man.

The killer is the product of western education, which makes a man stupid, selfish and corrupt. He was brought up as an American but the society considered him as a Muslim. He adopted all the evils of American culture. He suffered from identity crises and did not know where he belonged. I do not think that he could speak read and write his mother tongue Persian or Pashto or Duree. He married twice and divorced twice just like other Americans. It is just possible that he inclined towards homosexuality. I think that this is one of the reason why he entered the Gay club for shooting the innocent.

Mateen was a mentally ill individual who committed a heinous, cowardly HATE CRIME. And now thanks to paranoid fear mongering, we are playing into Mateen's twisted ploy to ELEVATE his snivelling sick act, transforming him and his crime into some international terror event. Mateen, knowing his country so well, has succeeded. We are turn this into something far more insidious than it really was. The act of a mad man carrying out his hatred of gays.

One thing is clear about American politics in light of the massacre in Orlando: Muslims who commit mass acts of violence are easily and immediately deemed terrorists. White people who do the same thing are not. Those who were still in doubt of the Islamophobic, anti-Muslim nature of the whole reporting on "terrorism" and of the manipulation of that word for anti-Muslim purposes may try explain those glaring discrepancies that are so systematic they are fully predictable now.

It was a matter of hours on Sunday before local authorities and national politicians began labelling Omar Mateen, the gunman, an Islamic terrorist. In some cases the label was applied even before law enforcement officials began telling reporters that Mateen had pledged allegiance to ISIS during the attack.

His Muslim name and Afghan ethnicity were enough to make that call.


“The word ‘terrorist’ is being used here to turn our attention away from the deep-seated hatreds that animate American public life,” Eddie Glaude, a professor of religion and African-American studies at Princeton University, told the press.

In the 24 hours after the Orlando attack, media reports were full of questions about how Mateen might have been radicalized. But little was discussed a year ago about how home grown racism had radicalized Roof. The Confederate flag came down in a lot of places, but only a after careful weighing of hatred against “heritage.”

Across the country, the same Republican politicians who offered “thoughts and prayers” for the Orlando victims are pushing anti-transgender “bathroom bills” and so-called religious freedom laws. These actions not only fuel anti-LGBT sentiment; they could very well help inspire someone like Mateen to go into a gay club and kill people.

Why aren’t we engaged in a conversation about “Christian extremism”?

Because engaging in one would mean that America would no longer be able to focus on Islam or people in the Middle East as the only threats to the fabric of American security. It would have to focus on itself. Taking a critical look at American hate-mongering through anti-gay legislation, lax gun laws that allow people like Mateen to legally own weapons, and symbols like the Confederate flag would force this country to ask whether it is dispensing its own style of propaganda against its own people.

The reality is that America is not ready to face the ugliness of racism, homophobia, and indifference to life in favour of loose gun laws. Right now, focusing on Islam as inherently violent is more comforting.

Mateen’s father, Mir Seddique, told NBC News that “this has nothing to do with religion.” Seddique suggested to NBC News that the shooting could be related to seeing two men kissing in Miami.

President Obama called the shooting “the worst shooting in U.S. history.” He referred to it as “an act of terror” and “an act of hate.”

“This is an attack on all of us,” Obama said.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, officials believe Mateen acted as a “lone wolf” shooter. He was reportedly carrying an assault rifle, handgun and possibly wearing an explosive device. All the killing was done with an AR-15 assault rifle, Rep. Alan Grayson in a press conference.

CIA Chief John Brennan just testified* in front of the Senate intelligence committee that they found NO evidence linking ​Orlando mass shooter Omar Mateen to ISIS or any other terrorist group.

Has that changed the mainstream media's narrative blaming Islam and Muslims? NO. Has it changed politicians' hate rhetoric blaming "radical Islam" and proposing to ban Muslims? Sadly, the answer once again is NO.


The reality is, we know that if the killer's name were not Muslim, the coverage would be much different, it would not be 24/7, and no other group would be expected to apologise.

Donald Trump congratulated himself for his bigoted statements against Muslims and was lauded for his hate speech by several GOP politicians around the country. Help us work to get out the vote this election season to stand-up to and speak-out against these candidates and lawmakers. Anti-Muslim hate speech will not be rewarded and we must make our voices heard at the ballot box.
