Does anyone know a good source for powdered soy milk (or rice milk), preferably organic? I have a kid that's allergic to dairy.... -- Libby

Hi, i know of one brand of rice milk. It is found in the ethnic food
aisle at grocery stores. I believe it is called "Horcheta" but i might
be spelling it incorrectly. It is a Mexican brand of rice milk, and it
actually tastes pretty good. I have a family member who is also
allergic to milk. hope this is helpful, Millie A. Jackson

Goat's milk may be an alternative also, it can be purchased in powder form. Soy milk can be purchased in liquid form and it has quite a long shelf life if it is not opened. (:

It's called "Horchata" prounounced or-chot-ah. I dont think I've ever heard it called rice milk. It is made from rice so I guess it is rice milk. It has rice, cinnamon and sugar in it. VERY DELICIOUS.

I was trying to research making my own soy milk last night before I went to bed. Didn't get too far but I think I'm gonna try it. Whole soy beans will store. It is time consuming and requires a goodly bit of stove time but might be a great alternative when I run out of my prep dairy products. |

Morning Moo is a milk substitute, as is Soy D'lite.
I carry both. Soy D'lite is only available in a 50 lb bag, but
you could bucket this up for long term storage. It will make 70 gallons
of milk.
The Morning Moo information page. Kids really like the Moo. I like that idea of making your own! |

Wow!! I didn't know they made dehydrated soy milk. Survival you can expect some business from me. This is way better than struggling over making my own. The soy d'lite would solve the issue of shelf stable storage, the reason I was considering trying to make my own. I actually like soy milk and dislike cow's milk. But I haven't given hope of convincing hubby to let me get that goat milk! |
