Tactical: Ak-47 w/16 30 rnd mags, .45 Glock 30, .357 Dan Wesson, 12 Ga. Mossberg Model 500 ("tricked out")
Hunting/Long Range: 30.06 Remington Model 700, 30.30 Winchester Model 94, 12 Ga. Remington Slug Master
Fun: .25 Raven, 10/22 Ruger w/8 30 rnd mags, .22 Marlin/Glenfield 18 shot, 20 Ga. Mossberg.
Ammo: 12,000 rnds combined.

ALL members of my household (including my teenage children, who have been shooting for years) have been trained on how to shoot, clear and safe all the above weapons.

I spent just under ten years working as a "ghetto" medic (mostly weekends and midnights-you get to meet the really interesting people then), and I learned that life is cheap, and even in a relatively stable economy people are willing to rape rob and assault Fire Department EMS Crews.
I have about 70% of my supplies in place now (are you ever really done?) and continue to prepare. I have no intention of taking prisoners or being the community food bank. Yeah, it's a cold position but after almost 30 years of active EMS service it teachs you your priorities. I'm an EMS Coordinator and Paramedic Instructor for my Department and the first two things that I teach our "Probies" are: 1. God don't like stupid, and 2. This is their emergency, not yours (they created it, and NO ONE expects you to die for their mistakes).

Like Dispenser, more than I care to list. A while ago I decided to consolidate calibers. It made inventorying easier.
Rifle, 308 & 7.62x39 & 22

Pistol, 22 & 357 mag & 9mm. All the 9's take the same magazine.

Shotgun, 410 & 12 gage.

I have rifles to match each pistol caliber.

I have a decent collection of 12 gauges, .22 LR pistols and rifles, .308, .38 special revolver, and my pride and joy...Barrett M82-A1 .50 cal. I know I could have bought an arsenal for what it cost me but I REALLY wanted it!

Wolfgang, I wish my wife was as understanding! LOL! I was introduced to the Barrett while in the military. I was already out when the A1 came out, but I knew it was the one for me! I am now saving for the optics for it.

Biggest gun I fired was 20 mm gatling gun. spit them out at 6000 rounds per minute. Man was that fun. Did I mention the gun was moving at 450 knots at the time.

I know what the F15 can do. Been there done that. I believe every word about the F22.

i think you mean 22 caliber.  if one can afford it one should have a modest battery of firearms suited for different purposes.  your's sounds like it covers many of the  bases.  you should reconsider the term "sawed off"  it usually denotes an illegally short weapon.  a shotgun with a barrel under 18 inches is a federal offense under the national firearms act of 1934.  the law is foolish and has no real meaning except to punish american citizens, but there it is.

To all of those who own guns: Do not post how many and what kind of guns that you own on a public forum. It will tell the bad guys where to come to get guns and it will also tell the police where to come to take your guns. All that is needed for home defense is a pump shotgun, maybe a different size and cal. for each family memeber and also plenty of training by a certified firearms instructor. Do not post all of your guns. It may look good on this forum and it may make you feel good to see it in print, but many others are reading this also. Johnray1

I know I do.

Quite a collection here, between the wife and I, we've got all the bases covered I believe.  shotguns, rifles, revolvers, semi-auto handguns and carbines.  All legaly registered, so the cops already know where to come and get them.  Since this is CA, there are no assault weapons but I don't really think we will be needing them, since we were able to cover all the bases pretty well as things stand.  I wouldn't mind having a SOCOM 16, but if I had to make do without it I wouldn't feel too bad about that.

I would be considered the "Bert Gummer" of my neighborhood, but I'm woefully underarmed compared to some folks I know about.  I'm no longer concerned about having sufficient firearms and ammo for myself, seriously if I get to expend 1/4 of my ammo or fire half my guns before I get plugged myself, I would be surprised.  If I needed to, I could arm the neighborhood for a block in either direction, though I would have to be pretty sure of a bigger threat than my neighbors before I would do so!

As far as the specifics go, the only ones that would see any serious use in a SHTF scenario would be the Springfield XD9 (9mm), the CZ75b (9mm), the Ruger P345D (45 acp), and a couple of SKS rifles (7.62x39).  Maybe (MAYBE) the .357 magnum revolvers and the Timberwolf .357 magnum pump carbine, as backups. MAYBE the shotguns for home intruders, if need be.

Eh, if I never need the guns, I can always consider them a fun hobby and as my "retirement fund".  And it's always better to have 'em and not need 'em than to need 'em and not have 'em.

I agree with this statement...this includes not telling anyone about ANY of your personal business.  "Loose lips sink ships...".  I don't go telling my neighbors and friends what I am prepping or how much I have on hand.  Same with my personal firearms and other defensive items.  This information may come back to haunt you in the future during some national crisis...when you find unwanted attention directed at your home because desperate people know you have supplies.

I have a small farm outside (25 miles) a small city.  Since I'm rural I do not have to worry about firing around my neighbors since they are about 2 1/2 miles away.  So yea I'm prepared.  I have things that would make your mouth water.  I have a class 111 license for a number of items.  Enough said....  Retired military..  enough said

We don't have as much as I'd like to have - we have something for long range, something for short range and several things for very short range.

Before we stock up on more firearms, we're going to fortify our house and put in natural looking barriers around our yard - like dense hedges laced with barbwire.

Haha Tadeo, I picked up one of those Microtec AUG's a few weeks ago just as a new toy for me to screw around with until I get my grubby hands on a Masada.

It's highly evil! I'll bet there's little Brady campaigner babies crying in their cribs knowing that I've got that gun. It's unbelievably accurate, and as much as I like it, my only real bitch about it is that they chose to use a proprietary magazine instead of just doing the right thing and making it use the ubiquitous AR15 magazines.

I had to look on youtube to see what a Microtec AUG looked like.  I have seen those before just didn't know what they were called.  I've wondered how looking through the scope felt, it looks rather small and difficult to pick up a target.

Coyote, go get the gun.  I just personally don't think gold coins will be worth anything in the future.  I don't think we will become a bartering society like the old days, we will be too far gone for that.  Uhh...got to go, the sky is falling.  Ahhhhhhhh!
Seriously though, go get your stuff NOW, prices are going through the roof!

get the AR, it's got better appreciation than the gold coins.  try checking out the equipment exchange on AR15.com, that'll will give you a good idea of values and options. AR's are pretty modular and let you customize or personalize them almost infinitely.

Tadeo, it doesn't have a scope. I got the flattop model and attached an EOTech. I tried an aimpoint on my M4gery, but they're nowhere near as versatile as the EOTech.

I completely agree with what Detpat has said about the price and value appretiation of an AR. I have very rarely seen firearm prices go down. Actually only once have I seen that happen and it was after Clinton's legacy 1994 Assault Weapon Ban was killed. Firearms hold their value better than even gold and diamonds.

Now that we're starting down the very real possibility of a extreme left socialist taking the presidency, and both houses of congress being filled with Socialists, firearm prices are shooting through the roof in anticipation of another AWB. I guess the liberals didn't learn last time they kicked themselves out of office for screwing with gunowners...

If another gun ban gets shoveled upon us by a pile of evil liberals, expect that AR you buy now to be worth five or six times what it's worth now. Before the first AWB you could buy a real Steyr AUG for right around $700, afterward you couldn't get one for under $8000!

i have 2 ak's and love both of them.  one's a saiga and the other is a highly modded SAR1 with a ak100 sidefolding stock.  love em both.

i have 2 ar carbines, one is sort of a gadget gun with a vm hytech left side charging handle upper receiver like a FAL and the other is a basic dissipater flattop.  the last ar is a spr tyupe rifle built by a senior gunsmith at the Arkansas national guard bureau [his full time job is building SPR's for  big army] and is  heavy barrel, free floated 20 incher with a leatherwood art II tactical mounted on the flattop.  great shooting gun.

Turboguy, I could not agree with you more.  I bought my first WASR about a year and a half ago for $360 and I just paid $489 for my second one.

Coyote, go get your stuff NOW!  Can you just imagine if Obuttfacebama doesn't get in or if he does and something happens to him.  The Rodney King incident would not even compare.  Besides, look at all of the other poop that is happening daily.  A few pistols won't protect your own, you need some substantial fire power to keep things even.  I am always visiting the different guns shops here in Vegas and I am not lying when I say that everytime I go into one I always see these gangster types buying up stuff.  They get the non-felons to buy their stuff for them.  Real scary!  When I bought my WASR last week I had the opportunity to be in the company of two Hispanic males that were completly sleeved up.  And I am thinking "How in the heck are these two able to buy the toys that they were getting?"  Yes, I judge a book by it's cover!

Detpat, I've wondered if the different ak variants have interchangeable parts.  All I know is what the WASR-10 insides looks like.  Can you mix and match your SAR1 and Saiga?

yes, most of the parts are the same.  lockwork parts that is, when i converted my saiga 12 i use a tapco G2 FCG [fire control group, tirgger parts set] to replace the saiga OEM parts.  you can get quite a few different upgrade parts sets depending on what you want.

the SAR series was known for it's trigger slap, that's when the trigger slaps your finger when the bolt carrier returns the hammer to battery.  the G2 lockwork set eliminates that minor problem.

Minor? I swear to God that thing used to get to the point that I didn't even want to shoot that gun it would hurt my trigger finger so much. Once I installed the Tapco G2 FCG it was like a dream. I've got an Arsenal AK and it's fantastic, the best I've ever seen. Never had a problem with that bad boy.

There was a video on YouTube of some dirtbag black guy teaching his three or four year old how to hold and operate an AK47 in a gun shop. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, but this guy was telling him that he needs to learn how to be a soldier in the war, etc.

I love those that think they're going to somehow last fifteen minutes if the SHTF without even one firearm. The guys that are coming for you have them.

How can you have handguns in Crook County?

I was under the impression that guns were all but outlawed in that violent cesspool.

A friend of mine is a Crook County Deputy. He wanted to buy a rifle from me, but the gun is all but outlawed there, and it'd have been a major crime for me to sell it to him, and a big one for him to even have it.

I have a theory, purchase 2 guns of every caliber so that you can have fewer calibers of ammo to purchase but more of it. The other thing is the wife can have her big gun and she can let her husband have the same caliber so he can feel as important!

Thank God, my son's girlfriend love to shoot hope he marries her!

Nope, I live in DuPage County, one county to the west.  Much more Republican and Libertarian out here.

I've been collecting for over 40 years, they accumulate like lint!  Love the new technology in the Glocks, seems to be very reliable.

I once read that "A 1911 .45 is the gun you show to your friends, and the Glock is the gun you show to your enemies."  I've got both!  LOL

HAHA! I love that quote! I'm going to use it.

A good buddy of mine lives in Algonquin (Sp?) and says that it is the polar opposite of Crook county. Too bad the rest of Illinois couldn't secede Crook county from them and let them keep their sillines there.

I personally hate Glocks. They're ugly. That said, they just plain out work. They're reliable, accurate, fantastic ergonomics, parts abound, they can be taken apart with no tools, the trigger might not be match, but it's consistent and predictable, and the gun holds oodles of bullets.

What do I carry? Glock 23 .40cal. Goes everywhere with me. My first GLock, a G17 gen1 I bought in the nineties I shot easily ten thousand times without cleaning or oiling it. I eventually got tired of getting a black hand every time I went shooting and finally cleaned and oiled it. The darn thing just would not jam. Still have it.

When it comes to an end of the world pistol, you just can't go wrong with a Glock.
