Reports are coming in from the base and Twitter on an active shooter at the facility. First responders are on their way. More breaking news as events unfold.

RNN) - Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility Washington is on lockdown because of an active shooter report, according to the https://twitter.com/JBA_NAFW/status/748505480587206657 - base's Twitter account.

All personnel were ordered to shelter in place, according to the Tweet, sent at about 9:20 a.m. ET Thursday.

The incident is unfolding at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility, and first responders are on the scene, according to official reports.

"We take these types of reports seriously and are responding accordingly to ensure the safety of those on base," https://www.facebook.com/jointbaseandrews - the base said on Facebook .

An active shooter drill was scheduled to be held Thursday.
