These meetings can bring some advantage. Many years ago we were living in Kathmandu (Nepal) and they were hosting a meeting on rabies. One of the problems in the city was the feral dogs. Our home help lived near the main bridge connecting the two halves of the city and on the morning the conference was due to start she said she saw 5 truck full of dead dogs being taken out of the city. Needless to say it was safer to cycle around for a while after that (although the remaining ones quickly breed and numbers soon increased). |
