Hi Albert, or anyone else who knows...
Has anyone done a recipe thread? I've been here a long time (lurker first) and I've read most all of the forums and I've not seen a thread with recipes. Maybe I'm not searching the right areas? I thought it would be nice for those of us who are newer to using our food storage and who might want some ideas on how to cook using basic ingredients. I'd REALLY like you all who've been making items using food you've stored to post recipes that you've used and LIKED! :) Since we all learn through trial and error, I think all of your wisdom will help those of us just starting out. I know we all talk about storing food, prepping, etc...but when everything goes down the tubes, we will have to know how to actually COOK with our food as well. Perhaps you could also post what recipe books or cookbooks you love as well? Albert, if this has been posted already and I am missing it, please just delete this post. I thought it would be a great idea to have a thread with many recipes in it that people have used, tweaked, and like to eat. |

Good idea rehabnurse. Let's make this the permanent recipe thread and we relocate it to Prepping Tips on a sticky topic. You can edit/change the heading to whatever you think is best. |

I wanted to find recipes to use...just in case we run out of fresh ingredients. It wouldn't take long to deplete the frozen veggies. Many do not have a freezer. Here are a few ...
we eat a lot of this in the winter -

Boiled cookies

I found this website a short while ago and bookmarked it. Before anyone thinks I have ulterior motives for posting this, I'm not a member of the church that hosts this site - I saved it because Mormons are hands down THE experts on prepping. They'd probably put most of us to shame - many families routinely keep up to a years worth of preps to hand. Since finding it, I haven't had a chance to try any recipes but it seems like it might be useful given that it's specifically geared toward commonly stored preps.
