Below is a news report out of Vietnam. It may be another false lead, but one to watch.
I dont know about you guys, but i get the impression Asian countries see MERS as a manageable threat, which can be dealt with behind closed doors. I think the Korean outbreak was being dealt with on the quiet until it got a little out of control. Then they were forced to front the media. WHO knows?? I don't believe we have news on the 2nd case from Thailand yet, which is very odd. They had enough time to test, why no result?? Again are they going to ground, or is it nothing but a false case http://vietnamnews.vn/society/272113/russian-tourist-quarantined-for-mers-check.html Russian tourist quarantined for MERS check
HA NOI (VNS) – Health officials in the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of Lam Dong have quarantined a female Russian tourist, suspected of carrying MERS, for further observation, an official said on Tuesday. Director of the provincial health department Dr. Phạm Thị Bạch Yến said the Russian woman was staying in isolation at the Lam Dong General Hospital in Da Lat City. The 24-year-old tourist and her friend arrived in the city three days ago. She has been in the country for 10 days and is believed to have transited airports in the United Arab Emirates and Thailand en route to Viet Nam. She visited the Hoan My Hospital in Da Lat on Tuesday for a health check-up after developing a fever and sore throat the day before. Hoan My Hospital then reported the case to the provincial health department which ordered the transfer of the female tourist to Lam Dong General Hospital for isolation and further examination. Further, the health department asked the man who was traveling with the Russian tourist to stay in quarantine with her in the same room at the Lam Dong General Hospital. The provincial Centre for Preventive Healthcare took a sample of medical waste from the woman to be tested at the HCM City's Pasteur Institute. In light of the complex developments of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus (MERS-CoV) in the world and especially in Asia, the Lam Dong People's Committee assigned competent bodies to accelerate the adoption of measures to cope with the epidemic and to be well-prepared to implement synchronous solutions to control the epidemic if it affects the province. Since early this month, the local health department and Lien Khuong Airport have increased quarantine periods for international passengers arriving at the airport and have stayed on high alert to strictly supervise the epidemic and quickly detect those showing signs of the illness, especially among high-risk groups coming from or transiting countries in the Middle East and MERS-hit countries. |

I've been checking the news every day for any news coming out of Thailand too - weird that they're neither denying or confirming.

With "News" you never know! A story on a suspected case sells a lot more papers than a story about a negative test! Most of the time no news is good news but Thailand has a huge medical tourist business to protect! |

No doubt at this point the family was positive. Can't believe the WHO goes a long with this crap. The WHO will be concerning during the next pandemic - and can not be fully trusted, is what this boils down to.
