It's September! This summer went by so fast, although it still feels like summer here, it's in the 90's, hot and humid. I don't think Fall is anywhere close yet. I'm not sure why but I'm feeling a kind of urgency to "get things in order". So I am really going to step up my prepping at this point. I'm not sure exactly how, figuring that out this weekend.

I love dried peaches! Someone gave me 3 pounds of grapes and a bunch of blueberries yesterday. I have already eaten almost a pound of the grapes between yesterday and today, lol. I will probably just wash and freeze the blueberries, to use is muffins or something? not sure yet.

Did you feel that EQ where you're at, Penham? They showed some of the damage it caused and said it was felt from Nebraska to Texas.

Yes ma'am, I most certainly did feel the earthquake this morning, it woke me up. My bed was shaking and I have 2 sets of wind chimes hanging in my bedroom for decoration and one was just chiming away from the movement the other was swaying back and forth. I knew exactly what it was when I woke up. Damn fracking......we are just going to see more and more of this I'm afraid.

I think they said that was the biggest on record for the area? Were there ever really any EQs before the franking began? That's super lame that it's causing all of those problems:/

I am from Oklahoma, but my dad was military and I was at one time married to someone in the military, so I moved around a lot. When I was younger and lived in Oklahoma I never remember any earthquakes here. I moved back here 17 years ago and there wasn't really any when I first got back here either, it's only been recently over the past few years. It's pretty much been proven the waste water from fracking is causing the EQ's, all that waste water is just making things unstable. Actually fracking has been around for many years, but was only used on verticle wells, it was when they started drilling horizontally was when the problems started.

The horizontal drilling allows them more access to oil and gas than verticle drilling does.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission shut down 30+ oil well drilling sites yesterday after the EQ.

They started fracking in central Arkansas a few years back and shortly after they drilled the first waste well the earth quakes started. As soon as the State closed the waste wells they stopped! I'm not saying that's conclusive proof but I don't believe in coincidence!
Buy more ammo!

We're in early Spring here and I've got an odd job man in to help me expand the vegetable garden. There just aren't enough hours in the day to do it all myself.
Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

They ended up upgrading the earthquake to a 5.8 at the end of everything, not sure how they figure all that out.

As far as prepping goes, my freezer is full again, mostly meat, some frozen fruits, a little cheese and margarine, enough to get by for a bit. I went through almost all my canned goods and got rid of anything REALLY expired. Although it's still 90 degrees outside, winter is coming and here in Oklahoma you never know when bad weather is going to hit and you can't get out. I would just rather be ready in advance for anything.
