Hello I want to start a discussion about the various state laws that deal with two topics.
1. Hording.
Did you know that various states have laws that allows local governments to take your stored food and other supplies in cases of emergency? They can then charge you with hording. For the last nail in the coffin they can take it all and do not have to give you compensation!
2. Self defense.
Florida is called "A self defense state". This law was amended last year in one way. Prior to 1 January 2008, you had to try to get away from the individual who was breaking into your house so that only if you were in immediate danger of death were you allows to shoot. Now we have the right to shoot anyone breaking in. No need to run. This has been tested in the state court system and is legal.
What about the local laws in your state?

If you live in one of the "People's Republic of..." states, there's a far better chance of not having "Castle" doctrine laws in place. Kalifornistan, Neu Jersey, Chicagoslavia etc are prime examples. You should move if you live in these Socialist republics.
The reason that the Libs hate "Castle" doctrine laws is because the person breaking in and who gets shot is chances are going to be one of the Democrat constituents.

I live in the Wild West, Colorado, and we have a "Make My Day Law"...if you are in immediate danger of death you can shoot. Tested and law held.
Anyone breaks into my house gets a "Hollow Point Welcome"! Love Colorado but it is slowly being taken over by Kalifornistans moving in to our state. If the Dems repeal this law...I will run for the State Senate!! |

Remember the US Supreme Court still has not determined what the 2nd amendment really means. Is it self defense or is it a call for a state national guard?

But the preliminary arguments from the anti rights crowd was shot down time and again by the S.C. judges. I think it was illuminating when John Roberts said that a complete ban on operable firearms was completely unconstitutional.
