One of my cats died Sunday of the swine flu. I have 2 others that are recovering from it. My vet says that she has been seeing this alot in the past several weeks. And that alot of the cats are dying. I'm in east central Mississippi. No one in my home has had the flu.

If you notice your cat has flu like symtoms and then stops eating, get to the vet ASAP!

Just curious as to what type of meds the vet put your cats on?  I know when my dogs were puppies, they got some type of virus, the vet said it was a new virus he was seeing at the time (about 3 years ago) and they put my dogs on Tamiflu and antibiotics. Just wondering if the cats are on Tamiflu?

I was just looking into cats getting H1N1 and came across Banfield's site http://www.banfield.net/r/h1n1-and-pets- they have confirmed that a cat in Iowa has had the virus.  Apparently they can give pets Tamiflu but only have a very limited supply.  This is because most of the supply is being reserved for humans.  No reports of dogs with the flu yet or at least none that they have confirmed.  Heres to staying well!

They first put her on "Baytril" 22.7 mg half tab twice a day. No improvement. After that she was so sick, we couldn't get anything down her. IV meds didn't work. They did try Tamiflu for cats. It didn't touch it. She was so full of congestion, it filled her lungs. I feel guilty that I didn't put her down. But ...

anything in birds will be in cats, anything in mice also, possibly lab rats. i had heard years ago that the day was fast approaching when cats would be considered a exotic pet. now i know why, the hunt,  kill and consume syndrome can not be bred out of them.
God Bless
