I was talking to Dutch Josh in pms and you know we post so much doom and gloom. The war in Syria, the economy, disease, terrorists - it does get depressing. I hope Albert will understand this post and you know, I am sure many of you like music and it is different all over the world. Maybe on this thread we could have a few jokes or funny things as a balance (tasteful)
My son is 7 years old and you know, if stuff is going to be happening in the next 30 years, well, it is our children that will most likely endure it. I may never have immortality in this world and sometimes I am so tired - and fading when I'm listening ... get anxious - miss a beat. So not posting Shiny Toy Guns You Are the One as I did before the Pandemic - just taking a breath - thank you Albert - and after a break - we will man the watchtowers again. Medclinician |

Our only hope is in the second coming of Jesus Christ. He predicted these things would happen prior to his second coming. Read Mathew chapter 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21
These warnings are repeated three times, therefore it must be important that we at the end of time understand. They are also in the book of Revelation.

I think "self-censorship" in the media is a growing problem. On the other side I also would like to have "good news". More and more people are waking up and loking for solutions-real values.
"Depressing news" gets depressing when no one is listening. Hope is sometimes the last resort to keep working for changes. The next generation have rights-it is our job to fight for them. Do not give up hope !

Dutch Josh, I have been posting over the last year that I think we are on the verge of a global Renaissance. After a very dark period we are seeing hints of actual peace and cooperation around the world. Perhaps it was posturing, but ... http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/01/26/iranian-leader-asks-pope-to-pray-for-him-after-vatican-talks.html I had to chuckle the other day as I watched the new X-Files and the CIA put up a page which was humorous. https://www.cia.gov/news-information/blog/2016/take-a-peek-into-our-x-files.html I was talking to my "lady" last night in the midst of our health challenges and about the need for humor in our lives. There really are times I need to emerge from "The killer awoke before dawn - this is the End..." i.e. Jim Morrison and Apocalypse Now to something funny. So as I sang her to sleep - she was going to kick my butt because she couldn't get this song out of her head. So amidst dire warnings of a Pandemic, the War and Syria and before dawn in California which we all now is going to sink into the ocean any day now... I annoy my neighbors and the world. "Daylight comes and I want to go home..." If you haven't had your coffee or have a hangover - you have been warned... |

That Norwegan music was amazingly beautiful, Josh. I do not share the religion, but the singer had a stunningly beautiful voice. THANK YOU.

Well after all that nicety from my hubby, I have to exercise my nasty sense of humour:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhuMLpdnOjY I love the masochism tango too. (The song that is - I'm not really that way inclined.)

I grew up listening to my Dad's Tom Lehrer LPs. It probably explains a few things.

Med, I have a list of clips on you tube that make me laugh, and I have a playlist on my ipod of happy songs. Try not to be overwhelmed. I know we all want to survive whatever comes our way, and that, with the help of popular apocalyptic fiction and some pretty scary end of the world movies, we all think it will be every man for himself, but I don't believe that's true.
The only disaster i've witnessed at close quarters was the devastating earthquakes we had here in 2011. What was surprising - or not - was how everyone helped everyone else out. People extended the hand of friendship to complete strangers. It was lovely to see and lovely to be part of. It's not all doom and gloom. Now if you want a laugh watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ6ZeWYfLjA It's a clip of the two ronnies. Jacksdad will know this. We all grew up on it. They are two male comedians who had a weekly tv show and would always do a musical number. This one is the Plumstead ladies male voice choir. The lyrics are so clever. If you like it, search for two ronnies musical numbers, there are about 50 in total spanning 20 years, and are so funny. I have them all on DVD but still youtube when needed immediately. Enjoy.

Did enjoy and thank you. During one of great California quakes everyone was in the street. We had more than 300 aftershocks and people were just scared to go back inside. People talked and grumbled and some of them slept outside all night. During a disaster civilization, there may be some lone wolves, but as it was fighting saber tooth tigers, we tend to pack for safety. Haven't heard many caveman jokes lately, but I am sure there was laughter even in the most challenging of times. Medclinician |

I bumped into a wandering caveman yesterday. I said: "hey meanderthal, you're the hottest thing since fire. " So he took me out to lunch.
How boring, just a club sandwich. Well I tried to brighten the lunchdate up with a few comments like: "I'm so glad I met you, I'm utterly fascinated by archaeology." To which he replied: "So your life is in ruins is it?" Well I could not let him get away with that one so I replied: "No I'm just good at dating methods." The reply to that was just a grunt. So I asked him: "Have you not heard of the theories of Chomsky?" He replied: "No I don't Noam." I started to feel I was stuck between a rock and a hard place So I caved in and decided that he was altogether too modern. Homo Erectus was far more fun, so I went home to my husband.

The best joke on the human race, in my lifetime: is that some of the best universities and scientists on our planet have been involved in a study that has probably cost many millions of pounds, across several disciplines (paleontology, geology, archaeology, astrophysics and astronomy to name but a few) which culminated in the discovery of how the earth was formed, from the collision of two planets, the result of which produced our Earth and at the same time, our Moon.
If you want to see the full extent of this joke, read the ancient story of Marduk and Tiamat. This story was expounded to the ancient Sumerians by their gods who were almost certainly the remnants of a prior civilization of human origin. In this, at least seven thousand year old story, you will find a word perfect account of how the Earth and Moon were made. That would seem to suggest that our great scientists of today are nothing more than rather slow plagiarists.
