In going thru some of my vet supplies, I noticed a product I use may have some interest with this crowd. It is called "Tek-Trol" and is a liquid disinfectant concentrate. 1 gallon makes 256 gallons of sprayable solution.
I think I pay $25 or so at the vet. I use it to spray down calf stalls between batches of new calves to limit the spread of scours and pneumonia to the next batch ( or so the theory goes - it seems every batch of 20 I bring in has at least a couple that I have to treat for some ailment or another....)
Tek-Trol is "Staphylocidal, pseudomonacidal, salmonellacidal, aspergillocidal, tubercullocidal, virucidal, fungicidal, parvocidal, mildewcidal, deodorant". Not bad for one bottle!
Taken from a web site:
TEK-TROL is a synthetic detergent which provides broad-spectrum kill of gram-positive and gram-negative micro-organisms, provides effective cleaning and disinfecting in one operation, nonflammable and nonvolatile in use dilutions, excellent solubility, dilutes in hot, cold, soft or hard water of up to 1,000 ppm water hardness. The TEK-TROL® high foaming detergent system has been formulated to provide heavy duty cleaning, wetting and penetration of soils and organic matter and easy rinsing of surfaces. Clinging foam is obtained at ½ oz. per gallon of water (1:256) to provide prolonged contact time.
Active Ingredient(s):
Discussion: Toxicity tests required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for TEK-TROL® disinfectant cleaner have been done, in conformity with the FDA and EPA Good Laboratory Practice Regulations. All of those ingredients are just alcohols. Unless you are going to spray your entire household over a long period of time, rubbing alcohol should work just as well.
