A neighbor just brought home a new to them motorhome and came over to as for help and advice. Something put the fear of God or AF into the two of them and they want to learn how to prep, took a lot for them to come over and ask for help. We'll start talking and helping each other, maybe others will see the writing on the wall. We are trying not to overwhelm them with all this! Nice thing is they have a pool, solar electric, solar water and pool heat already. The best part however is the talents they both bring, engineering and medical.
Two down and several billion more to go! |

Sounds Great! I have successfully recruited 2 of my closest neighbors. We stayed on the topic of home security for the most part, but that also lead into other preps. Anyway, I feel good that they are on-board, and we have a loose agreement to share security activities when needed. One of them doesn't have a gun, but has been wanting to get one, along with a CCW permit. I agreed to hook him up with my gun club for training, and to shoot some different models, so he will know what to shop for. For either one of these families, I would have certainly shared some of my supplies if they needed them, but it's much cooler that they will have their own. |

Corky, I made a convert myself yesterday. An old family friend. Totally oblivious to Avian Flu. She visited and my Dad and I broached the subject. She lives in Florida, so she is no stranger to prepping for a hurricane.
I showed her a few articles. Gave her the pandemicflu.gov website, and we talked for nearly 2 hours. You could see the light bulb come on over her head about 20 minutes into the converstion. She connected the dots, and brought up things like utilities, and hospitals being unable to cope, before I mentioned it. She vowed to go home and start prepping immediately. Sometimes miracles do happen. |

I have been trying to talk to my oldest daughter about this for several weeks now and everytime I bring the subject up all she says is "oh God" and trys to change the subject. Her boyfriend lives with her and he is much more willing to listen. last night I finally got through to her I read some stuff off the CDC web site and read her some stuff off this website and she kept saying "mom you're scaring me" this was a phone conversation (they put me on speaker and both listened). By the end of the conversation, she said she would stock up on things, get another gun (they already have one), she is more worried about having the money to buy all this stuff (full time student) and what they will both do if they can't go to work: will their cars get repossessed? what about where they live, will they have to move out? so at least she is starting to think about things. They don't have internet access at home, but she said she would check out this website at work tomorrow. So I feel a bit better knowing she at least is not in total denial.
