   i have alomost completely switched from conventional flashlights to l.e.d.
flashlights. i have one big conventional flashlight left. the led ones are really coming down in prices.

the led ones have no filament, no heat. the batteries in the led will last a hundred times as long as a conventional. the more led bulbs the brighter they are. i have a dozen of them. i have some with 12 led bulbs. even with
the room light on you cant stand to look at them. they are bright. they run on 3 AAA batteries.

i can literally put new batteries in one of these, turn it on and it will burn
24/7 for about a week. imagine the batteries you could save and the money too.

i even have a latern with 32 led bulbs. this will light a whole room up and uses four D batteries.

	I have several leds, some up to 7 watts. These use 2 of the 123 batteries and will burn for maybe 40 minutes. They tend to get hot, but they are very bright. I think anything more than a 5 watt, is defeating the purpose of leds.

	I recently saw an interesting LED light on the net, and purchased it. It has only 2 LED blubs, but it's is very bright, and what can i say, it's also very small! I liked it so much, i've bought two more. One is now a permanent resident in my truck's glove box, and the other is in my tool bag. The original one i carry with me in a contractor's clip board (the type that has closable storage box attached). check out 9voltlight.com. I'm in no way associated with this company. But i have their product, and i thought i'd pass along a good review to y'all. The only thing that could make this product better is a reflector of some sort, but otherwise...it's still a good small area light.

	I have a PETZL TIKKA XP. It has long battery life and a bright output.

	I love LED lights. I have converted my mini-mags to LEDs and have several headlamps with LEDs. I have kept my surefire lights with Xenon bulbs however as they are brighter and my surefire is a 'spot and go' light and not for just trapsing around.

	For my BOB I purchased Dorcy 41-2510 4 LED Carabineer Floating Waterproof Flashlights. After research I found decided these were best for our purposes. I liked the waterproof because in a bad situation rain, ground water, snow can be a problem and I don't like to be without light.

	Apart from an area lamp that we bought for camping a few years ago that uses fluorescent tubes and runs for a long time on batteries, I only have LED flashlights in my preps now because of the amount of light they put out and the huge savings in batteries. Whenever I come across an incandescent flashlight I just toss it in the trash because it's not worth burning up batteries in it. I have a small LED headlight that puts out over 100 lumens and will light up an entire campsite and still get phenomenal battery life compared to an old style bulb flashlight.
