Huge storm in East kills 11 people and no electricity. Heat is really high in the east also... this is really bad folks. Any of you in this mess?

It is hot in Colorado and we have lots of fires just bad all around. At least we get cool nights!

AFT friends please report in if you can.

LOL, I only wish for an ice age...I can deal better with that! I was going to purchase a 1/2 person crosscut log saw now I have to consider a roof sprinkler system.

How are your friends holding up with all that heat? I would get a generator if I lived in a southern humid area just to make sure I had at least a fan!

In Colorado you can at least wet your clothes and get cooler even at 105 degrees.

Are your friends preppers? If so how ready are they to deal with this situation?

They borrowed a generator, living/sleeping in one room and powering a window unit and a refrigerator for the ice. Nothing is open, no ice anywhere, still 87 in the house even with the window unit in the one room.

Hi Everybody it's been a long time since I posted. It's very hot here in Mississippi too. We had a short rain storm here last night and my lights blinked on and off 3 times but they never went out. I am preparing for hurricane season now.

Well here in Indiana, its been extremely hot. Very little rain, maybe 10 inches below normal. Corn crops are looking sad....Wonder if food prices are predicted to rise. Everything is just burning up. Also wonder what increase in diseases that maybe related in the fall. I wonder if solar activity has anything to do with the crazy weather.

62 of Colorado's 64 counties qualify for drought assisitance. So things are bad here. Hey, the Anisazi left the Southwest and it was thought to be drought that caused them to leave. The world will really hurt if we are not able to produce food. Sure the world can make oil expensive but if we don't produce corn, wheat, and soybeans lots of people will starve!

Here in NC the crops are having a terrible time of it and we usually do fairly well with rain or irrigation from all of the streams. We either get too much rain all at once and it hails or something and all the rain runs off quickly or we have temps that scorch and kill even the hardiest species.  The temps have been pretty hot but nothing like they are getting down further south with the humidity.  I feel for the people who have been without power in the Virginia area.   I believe prices on grains are already on the rise and will get worse. Now all we need is that plague of locusts that are forecast to arrive shortly.
