I'm sorry folks, I can't help it.  I found a voting/ballot/poll card I can put a cross on with confidence.

That has always seemed to me to be a good reason for voting Republican.  Some gun control is probably desirable, but most governments run away with that.  Over here, you can't even own an air rifle of low pressure without a firearms licence denied to all but the landed few.  This has resulted in a culture where only the criminals are armed.

Even having said that, allowing the populace unlimited firearms does mean they can vote with their trigger fingers.  It may be costly in human life, but it does buy a class of freedom unavailable to the rest of us.  Full revolutions are even more costly after all.

I agree, JD!  That election was really a "race to the bottom..."  I considered Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, but he came off like such a drug-addled idiot that I couldn't see voting for him.

The Dems are serious gun-grabbers, which turns off a huge part of the electorate & most of Red country. If they would drop that attitude, it would help them.

Mind you, I have one or two guns that could be grabbed.  Wink

I understand the need to exit by the correct door, JD.  But, be careful when checking - they might think you are casing the joint.

I am absolutely bloody certain you are right, JD.  The Trump media team and the man himself strongly remind me of pre-war Germany. That is still just my opinion, even though the resemblances are amazing.

'And, who is to say Hilary is not as bad?  Everyone, me included, tends to read the stuff which agrees with the opinion we already hold.  I would like to see the other side before my certainties are set in concrete.

I'm guessing it's the magnitude of the lies, and the ease with which they can be disproved that would make Trump's list all the more significant, Techno.

"...never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it" - Office of Strategic Services' assessment of Germany's leadership during WW2.

Thanks, JD!

The way that list is laid out, charts each time Trump was logged as making a false statement.  I read about 1/6 of them and removed the repeats of the same lie, counting each lie only once - irrespective of how many times he told it.  I counted 25 original lies repeated on average 3-10 times.  assuming the rest followed the same pattern, that totals 150 original lies over a 3 month period: or 50 lies PCM.

Though that is utterly disgusting, it is not totally unexpected in a politician.  I would love to see the equivalent list for Hilary.  If anyone can find one, I will apply the same formula and give the result here.

IMO, her list would be a little bit shorter.  But, that is my opinion and I would love to see how right/wrong I am.  That was obviously an anti-trump site.  For fairness, her list would need to come from an anti-hilary site.

Any takers?

You are correct in your thinking Med. When Obama was elected and the Dems in control conservatives (Repubs) did not act like this. Well sad but Dems (Liberals) are weak whiners, I just hope people see this. 2018 is coming fast!

'Sympathies Med.  My dad was "orange" and my mother "green" meaning that Mum wanted a united Ireland and my father wanted the north of Ireland to remain part of the United Kingdom.  I know that war zone.  I even found I was not alone:......................
http://www.metrolyrics.com/the-orange-and-the-green-lyrics-irish-rovers.html.   Needless to say, childhood was interesting!

Well, we may disagree on the current president, but, at least, all that arguing brings back childhood memories. Sigh!

I envy you on one point, our Prime Minister stays in power for 5 years, sometimes that is far too long.  Currently we have achieved the worst option of all: just before our departure from the European Union, when we desperately need negotiating power, we have a hung parliament.  I wish I could supply the rope!

Thanks Med - nice to know you hold so many of us in such high regard. I just hope that one day we can learn to quit whining, and instead offer constructive criticism in much the same way the right attempted to respectfully guide President Obama during his two terms. Baby steps.

Actually most of the posts here are intelligent and way above the garbage on mainstream media. My primary issue with social justice warriors is that they are often violent, encourage reverse discrimination and racism, and conveniently ignore the truth which does not fit into their agenda. The agendas being pushed were for minorities, Muslims, atheists, Gays, or LBGT who really are not just asking for equality but trying to take over the government.

I have seen this in California all my life as farm workers who came to help harvest crops in Silicon Valley repopulated it and became the majority. The officials elected did not represent White People, but the minorities and selectively hired them for projects, gave contractors preference and even made the universities do quotas of hiring and those admitted for school.  This was wrong.

Somewhere along the line the Democrats have become associated with almost every radical group there is and which are misnamed "the people".

My mother was a Democrat and religiously so - my father a Republican. I grew up in a war zone every election. There was a time when the Democrats represented the worker class - not any more. Not they represent the "taker" class who get benefits of some kind without every really earning them.  The Welfare system nearly destroyed America and provided a breeding ground for a non-violent revolution to demonize those of us from Europe or Native Americans - especially males.

My definition of whining is complaining without offering solutions. A common sense person would say "okay I don't like it -let's try this".

I see the last election and issues from the Democrats as saying "I want special treatment because I am -"female" - "gay" - "atheist" - "Muslim" - "an immigrant - Latino or Black". You must hire equal numbers of us - put equal numbers in commercials and movies or we will hurt you and your business.

There is a concept called "Sins of the Fathers".  None of me, mine, or ancestors were Klu-Klux-Klan,
had plantations, slaves, or were racists. I am not responsible for those who did and it is now a very long time since slavery. I wasn't a Nazi, am not descended from any and have no issues with Jewish people or Arabs. No one should get special treatment.

There is an expression I have been told and finally got - "Get over it."

If anyone is persecuting anyone disabled, white or black or any color, arrest them and put them in jail. Any religion that teaches violence or putting itself over others without their consent is wrong. The same applies to any sexual orientation or race.

The Democrats want back in power. They will use any method, any propaganda, lie, cheat, steal, make up stories, anything they need to get back Congress and put in a Democrat as president. None of this considers the good of the American people. It is all partisan. Comey's testimony, as far as I am concerned ended the case for Trump to be tried for anything.

There will not be another election for 3 some years. There will be no impeachment. It is a dumb idea and will never get support without facts and a crime. There is none.
