This may sound crazy but I made sure we have lots of my dog's monthly flea medecine and heartworm medecine. If we're all housebound, I don't want to be sharing the house with fleas. Our dog is a member of the family and I want to keep her healthy. I also purchased a plastic tool box to organize our medecines. We had a bad habit of having them in many different places in the house. Now they are all in one place and I know exactly what I have. The box is very portable too in case we need to leave our home. The toolbox has a lift out tray and worked so well I bought another one and organized our firstaid things too...bandaides, etc.

I bought a 50 lb. bucket of Lard ($17.99) on the way in today and canned it while watching A.I. It was just short of 16 quarts; I added enought butter to finish it out.
I made three batches of Granola with the granchildren in mind today also. |

I went to store today to get some vitamins, cough drops, flu meds for kids, vitamins, etc...and I noticed much of the flu, cough drop section was empty. We live in the country so I know there are people who prepare for just about anything. I'm thinking maybe we have bf preppers in my part of town. I know my nieghbor 2 houses down is Mormon and she is always prepped and has been for years. Just an interesting observation at the store. Oh yes, they ran out completely of the suppositories(for fever)

Arranged for a clean of my rain water tank and the water to be filtered, went to the range and had a session with my new LA rifle. Glad I did because I jammed it and took a while to clear it. Got the knack now and put 60 rounds through it. Accurate straight out of the box. Did a months food prep for my mother, although yet to tell her.

I went to Walmart last nigt to get my daughter some cough drops and throat lozenges. She has a real bad sore throat and cough. Anyway, I came home with another $125 of food. 3rd time this week I've done this.
The sugar section was almost bare. Just a couple bags left. 2 days ago it was full.

Thanks, Annie4. People will use that idea.
And if you do get a flea infestation in your house, simply mist the floors with a can(s) of insecticide (like RAID or HOTSHOT). If it will kill ants and roaches, it will kill fleas, and you don't have to leave the premises, just open a few windows and let the place air out while you are spraying. Work your way from the entrance on in to the interior and make sure you don't miss any area of floor including tile and wood floors. I do remodel and construction, and more times than I can count I have had to do this to rid an apartment or entire building of fleas due to some tenents who didn't provide enough protection for their pets and ended up infesting the carpets through such gross negligence.

I started going on two hour walks daily Im on my second week. It cured my depression about the bird flu.
I was sleeping in with my head under the covers but taking care of my health as given me more strengh to deal with the issues. I feel its like giving up alcohol it dosent make the world better but it makes you stronger to deal with the crises. Prepping is a whole life issue . I am also gardening ,well just enough to add fresh carrots peas and onions to my preps. I envy those who can and applaud you for providing healthy meals to your kids. My mother canned and me and my brothers would just devour those canned peaches. |

Borax is said to kill fleas, also. which reminds me of something else I need....
I thought about throwing out some of the very old jams and jellies but then I thought what if we couldn't get sugar and decided to hang on a while thought perhaps it might be added to oatmeal or other;it would sweeten it. |

Back to the store, someone check Wal-Mart stock, I know it's gone up because of me!
Added to preps:
gravy/beef stew/taco seasoning packets(only add water cheap 33 cents)
Pudding cups
fruit snacks
coffee filters
plastic cups
disposable bowls
crisco
cream tarter
baking powder
cornmeal
vanilla
salt
cornstarch
Ny-quil
Benadryl-alot gone
camping coffee pot(only 10.00 at Wal-Mart)
Cast iron Griddle(only 11.00 at Wal-mart)
storage buckets
bay leafs(keeps buggies out)
I noticed that at Wal-Mart alot of camping stuff is gone....compared to last week. Not alot of cold medication either. Baking supplies are going(flour/sugar etc.) Must be more preppers here where I am.
My local Lowes has N95 masks for 20/19.95..going to buy them up friday.

I almost forgot, I bought a 24 pack of "Utility Cloths" in the paint dept at Wal_mart. These are white and cheap(8.97/24). You can put them in a bucket with water add bleach and use them for wiping surfaces or anything else you think has germs, throw them back in the water and the bleach will kill everything. You won't want to use you good towels.
I already do this to pre-treat my whites and then put them in washer.

Placed another order to Internet-Grocer. They're pricy but I like some of their items and feel it's worth it. My husband brought in 3 bags of preps today. All dessert/sweet items. He's a sweetaholic and must have felt I was a little "light" in that area. |
