Suspected Case of Ebola Recorded At UCC
Posted on September 8, 2014 by Administrator The University of Cape Coast has recorded a suspected case of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) at its hospital. According to Univers News, the case was recorded on Monday morning when fresh students had reported to the school for the start of the 2014/2015 academic year. The Administrator of Health Services of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Mr. Attah Yeboah Sarpong in an interview confirmed the incident saying “the information I have gathered from the hospital is that somebody has been brought there and the signs and symptoms are quite close”. Mr. Sarpong added that “they have retained the person and they are waiting for the ambulance to take the person to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital”. As at the time of filing this report, the unidentified victim had been isolated awaiting transfer to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further medical examination. Tertiary institutions in Ghana have been on red alert following the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus that has so far claimed the life of about two thousand persons in West African countries; Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria. Earlier last month, Ghana’s Ministry of Education suspended the re-opening of Universities in the country over concerns of the EVD outbreak in West Africa to put in place screening measures for all students especially those from outside the country. Ghana is yet to record any case of the deadly disease. Source: http://233livenews.wordpress.com/2014/09/08/suspected-case-of-ebola-recorded-at-ucc/ |
