Fearing creation of deadlier viruses, US tells scientists to halt bird flu researchDive Brief:
Dive Insight:The underlying concern that is driving the government's cautious stance is fear of an unintentional bioterrorism-like outbreak of a highly contagious, deadly virus that cannot be easily contained. On October 22, the National Research Council will meet with other agencies and experts involved in this year's National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity. The potential threat is real and scientists involved in this research have been very accommodating and compliant. While the risk of a lab-based pandemic outbreak seems remote, it's likely that the current scourge of the Ebola virus and fear of an outbreak occurring in the U.S. has made policy makers more conservative. carbon20, I suspected that the reason that research on "Bird Flu" has been stopped is that they have already developed one strain that is deadly and a threat to the human race and they are afraid of what they have developed and they do not want any more of it.
This happened one other time with Anthrax several years ago and that building is now full of concrete and also encased in concrete.A friend of mine was part of this. He says that if 10,000 years from now,a different civilization finds this building and opens it,this strain of Anthrax will still be there and still be ready to infect anything that it can. He me told that this particular strain of Anthrax, could NOT be killed.Johnray1 |
