...I agree.  I work closely with local and federal law enforcement.  



Folks are fallible, but I'm very glad to be protected by these people.

CRS - Astrologic is someone who has never been a policeman (or anyone else with authority) in any of his/her past lives!

All humans make mistakes but, I have friends that are police officers, some that I would call 'dear friends' even though we hardly see each other. I've worked for/with the RCMP as a search & rescue volunteer, and I can say "those are GOOD people" and I would be proud to stand beside them & that I would trust those people.

I went on a ride along one night...Astrologic, if you could see what these people put up with on a continual basis, drunks spitting in their faces, guys just wanting to fight, domestic disputes where the woman is beat to (#*( and even with a female officer is too scared (of partner) to say anything or press charges....by the time the shift was over and I had a chance to talk to the watch sergeant, I was shaking my head. I asked him - "How can you do this? Night after night?" and his face softened and he looked me in the eyes and said "Because sometimes we get to truly help"... that is what these guys and gals put up with all the ***** & abuse for - because sometimes they CAN make a difference and they hang onto that.
Until you have been in a position of authority and not abused it, and never made a mistake... please stuff your gibberish up your peace pipe.

As a Deputy Sheriff I never got to work with the fine folks only the repeat offenders who could never live a law abiding life they always seem to break the law. I began to think that it was a genetic issue but later learned that it was an issue of how they were raised. They had no respect for authority, their parents, teachers, law enforcement personnel or the law, either God's or man's.  The justice system was a training ground for additional knowledge in committing crimes with a revolving door.  They all had similar theology as Astrologic, warped as it is.

I have been shot at, knives pulled on me, cars aimed at me, bitten, spit on, slapped and kicked but by the grace of God I survived that period in my life. I would not want to be in law enforcement at this time in the worlds history.

We all need to be thankful for the current men and women of law enforcement that go through these type of things on a daily basis to protect us from the lawlessness that is in our society.

I also dissagree with Astrologic, though not totally.  Most policemen are "just folks" same as you and me and doing the best they can.  There are a few "dirty cops", however.  There is no section of society without a few bad apples, this is not confined to the police force.  They have their share of saints too, people risking their lives for you and me. Happy Camper is spot on, I do not want to live without them.  Even flawed, they are far, far better than the alternative.

But, I think Astrologic has been on the recieving end of one of the bad apples.  It is unfair to judge her for that and just plain nasty to call her names for it.  Can you not just say: "I dissagree with you." with some sympathy and manners?
How do you tell if a politician is lying?

There have always been abusive police....I live in the Chicago area, and the Chicago Police Dept. are renowned for physical cruelty to perps, taking bribes etc.  

However, I will also say that it is getting much better.....the training for our police is improving, including sensitivity training, and after recent events involving perps shot and killed, a new spotlight is on departments nationwide.  

Just for the record, I am in favor of a strong police force, able to use all tools including the loud voice and intimidation.  Many times, a situation can be de-fused in this manner.  What looks brutish to people on Youtube is actually good police work, many times.
