I'm planning on reviewing what medications we have in stock at home and would like everyone's opinions on what we should all be stocking in light of the new coronavirus that is spreading fast.

So far I'm thinking:
Paracetamol - for fever
Ibuprofen - for pain
Gees Linctus cough mixture - it contain morphine - for painful coughs
Betadine Iodine throat gargle - for sore throats
Mucinex expectorant - for phlem on the chest

I'm also thinking masks, goggle and gloves.

What have I forgotten?

Good post and good question. Flumom asked about getting the pneumonia vax, and it could offer some protection. John would say Elderberry extract. Stick with your training here, lol.

The pneumonia jab would make no difference to this bug, but could protect against secondary infection. In cases of fatal flu, it is usually secondary infections which kill. This virus seems to kill the already sick, so the secondary-infection theory has some weight.

Get on the healthy diet NOW. It will strengthen the immunne system. Once sick, the change is less effective. The same applies to exercise. When people die of chest problems "immobility" is a contributing factor and can even appear on death certificates.

"first defence" is a bit of a gimick, but does show some use for the common cold. Both the Wuhan bug and the common cold are coronaviruses (same shape) so could, at least in theory, be caught by the same system before infection. I've already filled my store and pockets.

Get colloidal silver. I make my own from a kit I bought from Amazon. It kills virus and bacteria. Have used for years and you don't turn blue.

One drug to stock up on is Advil liquid caps. They have an effect on reducing Bronchitis which is a complication with the flu. The trick to taking Advil is when mucus starts to thicken take maximum dose for several days. What you are trying to achieve is reduced inflammation over this period.

Effectively you are giving respite to your body so it can deal with the virus and avoid the complications. You still need to cough but keep it manageable. Make sure you take a deep breath every once and a while. It will help clear the bronchial tracts.

I swear by this treatment. I suffer from respiratory infections regularly. Since using this method i haven't had bronchitis..

drink a ***** ton of water too. Get good sleep

Asprin can also have a similar effect as Advil and is also fantastic at lowering fever, which can help with rest.

Tamiflu is meant to be pretty good as an antiviral. i know other swear by it but i have mixed opinions.

Antibiotics can treat secondary bacterial type pneumonia. Don't listen to the bull***** one the web saying antibiotics cant treat a flu.. While this is true. Antibiotics are there to treat the secondary infections.

I believe SARS corona infection used bacteria as part of its attack vector. There are studies around that suggest corona viruses and bacterium coexist and some how the virus benefits from the relationship. Something to do with RNA

Maybe someone can do some research.

Both oil of oregano and garlic. Colloidal silver. Vitamin C. My husband had viral pneumonia last summer, I’m watching this like a hawk

We all had the pneumonia shot 2 years ago. Today I am going to restock on wrap around safety glasses. I was flying last week and someone kept sneezing near me.

When I fly I do use a lubricating saline nasal spray that keeps the membranes moist and thereby reduces your risk of catching an infection in the overly dry cabin atmostphere. Touch wood, I haven't had an infection from a plane in over 10 years.

Overall, our stocks are looking pretty good, but I do think we should all be checking now before everyone else catches on.

If you think of infection as a battlefield, vitamin C hands out rifles to the troops, zinc gives them rounds of ammunition and vitamin D gives them communications. You can't fight the battles without all 3.

Colloidal silver cuts little cross shapes in the tips of the bullets which zinc gave you (making them far more lethal) and no, you only go blue if your colloidal silver is too coarse a colloid AND you overdose AND you bathe in it. If you have seen the videos of "Pappa smurf", well he did all 3, and while you are there, look past the colour; do you see how young and healthy he looks?

"First defence" digs a trench so less invaders can get over-the-top. Elderberry, garlic, propolis, bioflavanoids and rose hips give the enemy a mild illness. It won't kill your enemies for you, your army still have to do that, but it will slow them down so the fight is easier.

Eccinacea opens a recruitment office to give you more troops. As you have to have logistical support for the army, if it gets too large it can cause problems in peacetime, so only take it in times of illness.

There are lots of other antivirals and herbal tricks, they all fall into the elderberry-and-garlic category. Here are a few more: turmeric, ginger, ginseng and thyme; Ayuravedic (I'm sorry I cann't spell that) medicine lists a host of them. But a slightly sick enemy will still attack, so the main defennces are C, D and zinc.

I finished my pneumonia vaccines last year and up to date on all other vaccines according to my doctor. I'm stocked up on my daily meds for the next six months, so no worries there. I also have a supply of Ibuprophen and saline packets for nasal irrigation.

I'm going to be making elderberry syrup in the next couple of days to take daily.

On the "to buy list" is Mucinex and getting in some fresh star anise pods and some vitamin C supplements. My daily meds include D3. And just for some comfort a jar of Mentholatum.

I think it is 2-3 weeks. I'm pretty sure that's what we were told when we had ours. But even immediately you get some protection from it. It just takes that time to fully work. I think it's definitely worth getting and I'm so glad we've had ours. We need a booster in 3 and half years time.
