Meals Rejected by Ethiopia are somewhat full of calories (1500+ I believe). When I was in service we could not get rid of them and now I see that they are going for $80 plus on the internet...WOW! MRE's have everything you need in one little package. Main meal, dessert, coffee, gum, utensils and toilet paper (not enough though). They can last up to 10years in the storage. They do not need to be heated. They're just great for on the go. Sometimes you can find them cheap at gun shows. Even though I cringe at the thought of eating another MRE I do plan on getting a couple of cases to put in the vehicles.

I am not going the MRE route for my family. Yes, they keep for a long time. I figure I can buy alot more for my money because they are very expensive and just rotate it more oftem, plus it will be things my husband and kid will eat. If you look at canned goods like beefaroni and canned spaghetti and that type thing, they have a shelf life of 3-4 years and I can buy 4 or 5 times the amount for the same price.
