It has to be said, how much are you prepping on women's hygiene products? Also, will you prep Monistat or anything?
Because trash is going to be an issue for SIP anyway, I bought a Diva Cup, the reviews were pretty promising. http://www.divacup.com/ Has anyone tried it? I will let you know how it works.

I have used it for at least 10 years and could not live without it!! The best thing ever, at events I don't need to use the stinky port-o-lets, when swimming no leaks, I can go a whole day without having to mess with it....I don't worry about it being in too long like with tampons, so much cleaner because I don't have to worry in public restrooms...

Thanks homeschoolmama. I'll give it a try. By the way Fab, yes, I have stocked monostat! Another item I wouldn't want to be without if needed.

Hi Ladies, well I no longer have to worry about "pads and tampons" but I have one monostat and I need to get some more, just in case. There is nothing worse than a huge yeast infection.
I wish I had known about the cup because the last 6 years were the worst for large amount of flow. Let's face it a cup would be much cleaner and easier to deal with than paper items that you have to store and then dispose of. As we keep putting in preps storage is getting short. I just hope the men will read this because they have wives, pre-teen and teen girls to worry about. Thank you fab4 for the post it is a good prep subject. |

Mine is so heavy too, and that was one of the reasons I started looking into this a few months back. A lot of women like it for that very reason! Ok, so I tried it today - so far so good! |

Thanks for the great info...I just wish I had heard of it sooner. I have about 12-15 months worth of tampons! Oh well, I ordered one today anyway.

Susan T let's face it if you have that many tampons keep them and use or keep to give out to women when the stuff hits the fan or if you need room dontate to a women's shelter. They appreciate anything you give them.
Gee ladies, I am so glad I no longer have to worry about the period thing. |

I'll keep them for now, just in case my sister-in-law ends up here when TSHTF. Or they may make a good barter item. There is a NP org here called Woman's Community that I volunteer for and donate to regularly, and you're right, they would be welcomed there.

By the way Flumom any suggestions on things to stock for starting menopause? I'm not quite there yet, but every woman in my family started it between 40 and 42, and I'm 38. Did you find any home remedies that help with hot flashes or other unpleasantries?

I got the luck of the genes! My mom did not have a bad time of it and neither did I. However, let me warn you, I and some of the women I work with had the same experience here goes...
You wake up in the middle of the night paranoid... about what you do not know. You feel like you are going nuts and panic feeling. I use to go out side and that did not even help. I thought I was going nuts until I told a few women at work and they had the same experience. It is almost a feeling of claustraphobia only worse. That lasted one year maybe 3-5 times a month. If that happens go to your Dr. and ask for something to help. Mine gave me Alprazolam .25 mg and I only took 1/2 of that little pill. It calmed me down and I could go to sleep within 20 minutes. I also woke up with the sweats and got hot flashed sometimes during the day but never so bad that I took anything. I would go to your local vitamin store, Vitamin Cottage in Colorado is where I go. Ask them for help with the hot flashes it will be better than hormones... unless you are really bad. It is not as bad as some women say, most of the ladies I work with have gone through it in the past 3 years. Some are just starting to go through it and we all start laughing when one of us begins removing clothes yelling its is so HOT in here! The young teachers have their rooms so hot us old gals about die! It is not as bad as the men say it is!! LOL |

Oh don't worry you will make it ok. Not all women get this nutsy thing. Some just get hot flashes.
Menopause is like pregnancy, women love to tell you how bad labor was or how horrible the C-Section was but it is never as bad as they scare you into thinking it is. Relax, I wanted you to know of my experience because Knowledge is Power. My husband and son never knew there was anything was wrong I just kept my mouth shut. When I got hot flashes I just took a damp wash cloth and used it to cool down and that was mostly at night and they never woke up. In the winter I just walked out in the back yard and cooled off. Here is the good news you may not have any of these problems you might just sail right through. Hope this helps. |

Wife uses diva cup and loves it.
For the men, it looks like the top of a baby bottle nipple cover. I didn't know what it was and threw it away first time I saw it on bathroom vanity. Wife tried to find it and described what it was and I told her I threw it away. Luckily, trash had not been picked up and reocvered it. Whew!

Good for you SouthTexas you are The Man! Glad you posted here.
Men need to know about this subject for all the women in their families they are preparing for. Men who are reading this if you have any questions this is a great place because you will never see any of us women and be red faced. I know this is the last thing my husband would talk to me about. |

Okay, so I ordered the Diva cup and just tried it for the first time. Ladies, try it! Men out there prepping for wives, buy one for your wife/daughters etc. I don't know why anyone would ever use tampons again, just for the convenience factor alone. Regarding bird flu, it sure beats stocking up on all of the hygiene products that will eventually run out anyway!

Saw info on Diva Cup here several months ago in an old thread and bought one for prep then decided to try it out. I use it when flow is heaviest and have found it doesn't leak. Comfortable. I highly recommend it.

Ok if I add my 2 cents worth on what to do if you start going thru the change?
EXERCISE! It's a great way to get thru any kind of stressful time.
