     Wuhan virus – How bad?

How bad is the Wuhan virus? Right now, we can't be sure due to Emperor Xi's full-scale attempt to prevent information about the dead and dying from escaping China. [Scientists associated with both the WHO and the CDC have expressed disappointment with the lack of cooperation from the Chinese government]. But all indications are that the situation is much worse than the professional soothers would have us believe.
From Guan Yi, one of the hero scientists from SARS epidemic:

Guan Yi is the director of the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases at Hong Kong University in Hong Kong. He said in a Jan. 23 interview with Chinese financial magazine Caixin that his “conservative estimate is that the epidemic could end up at least 10 times the scale of SARS.”
Guan helped successfully identify the coronavirus that caused the SARS outbreak in China almost two decades ago.

20 cities have various levels of travel restrictions, some very severe (paramilitary troops blockading roads). There are reports that hospitals in Wuhan are overwhelmed. And videos on social media show dead bodies in the street. Some of the bodies are shown being collected by people in full PPE. The claims made about these videos have not been independently verfied.

The number of reported cases and deaths increase too quickly for me to update this in a timely matter. But I'm not sure that matters. The reported numbers bear little relation to the reality, in my opinion. The US government, or any government, should NOT rely on the Chinese government for accurate information regarding the scope of this epidemic. We need independent intelligence on the many mysteries associated with Wuhan virus.
