A dead magpie has tested positive for the H5N1 strain of bird flu in Hong Kong - the fifth dead bird to be found infected with the virus in recent weeks.

The bird was collected from a local village Thursday and died Friday, the government said Monday.

Hong Kong has been spared from the recent bird flu outbreaks that have killed or forced the slaughter of millions of birds across Asia since late 2003.

But the territory has found dead wild birds of various species with avian flu in the past year, and the government said last week a local chicken brought in from the mainland tested positive for the disease.

Your post raises a good question.  If the media is too busy to connect the dots for the public.   This situation seems to be spiraling out of control.  I have been telling all my friends to use there own judgment  come to this forum and read.  The reaction from most where I live is that I am crazy.  Are we being paranoid. Am I paranoid.  I don't think so.  Do you question whether we might be over reacting.  That is how I am being challenged.  Does anyone feel the same way?

Thanks guys I feel better.

"Look!  The sower went out,
  took a handful [of seeds]
  and scattered [them].
Some fell on the road
and the birds of the air came
  and collected them.
3 Others fell on rock,
and they did not take root in the soil
and didn't produce heads of grain.
4 Others fell on thorns,
  and they choked the seeds
  and worms ate them.
And others fell on good soil,
  and it produced a good crop;
  it yielded 60 per measure
  & 120 per measure.

Ella & Corn,

Great idea! - a daily wrap-up.  Would be thoughtful and useful for those that can't spend a lot of time on this site but want to be kept up to date so they get a heads up wtshtf for real - Sichuan Sheet  goes H-2-H - coming to a neighborhood near you.
