gettingreadymom et al,

here's the link....sorry for not includting it inside my post
  Embarrassed:

http://www.brownfieldnetwork.com/gestalt/go.cfm?objectid=969CD45E-9C23-00A0-923BCE8792CB33AF

the site is "Brownfield: Ag News for America"....if you go to the link (above), it's only a very, very short announcement....it's very interesting (maybe more bizarre) that such a news item is buried on that website's home page under "Latest Headlines"!

Melody4Avon,  There is no mention in the very, very short couple of sentences in the article itself.  Maybe C-Span will provide it...or it may be relegated to the nightly news and/or next morning news.  Again, the gov probably doesn't want a whole lot of public fanfare.

The last briefing on May 3, 2006 took place near noon ( Eastern time) if I am not mistaken. I was in a drs. office with my son, so I wasn't able to take the full briefing in at the time. My TV will be on from the time I wake up.

Someone mentioned we would know more when the summits were wrapped up. Sounds like you were on the money there. As to your long hair --  great plan --  have you considered donating to locks of love? They provide hair for children in need. Great organization. Good luck!

Let's stay vigilant over this issue (below and posted earlier).  It was under the radar screen earlier re the media, and I for one am curious as to what these folks might say tomorrow.

Seems we've got a good crew on these forums at "finding" the news.  Looking forward to hearing from someone when they catch a hold of this particular news tomorrow (Monday).

If you click on the link to the article above and then scroll down the page on the bottom left is a link to the reporters blog. If you click on the blog link on the left middle side of the page is an e-mail link. I was going to e-mail and ask for a time and station or where we might pick this story up but my e-mail link doesn't work...maybe someone else on here could do it?

Great, two TV's, two channels on (that's all we get) since early morning. Just checked here to see any update, and THEY BOTH CANCELLED??? Do you think Rumsfeld's trip influenced them?

Note above, from them, says they don't plan live coverage ... so I'm assuming that means even on their radio stations shown on the map when you click 'air'??? I was trying to figure that out, as well! Pinch I wonder if this means we won't know anything till they post it?  Anyone else have input on this?? -k

I'm not in one of the states that air it but if you are and you click on your state it gives the radio station....If it were me (if I were able to pick up one of these stations) I would tune it in for the day.  I would also call the station and ask when they plan to broadcast it, wouldn't hurt to ask if they know where you could get live coverage.

raptureready,  I listened to the audio for your link, well, hmm, so I guess we all can relax now, huh? My grandparents used to talk to me like that when they didn't want me to worry. It was a real play down, I wonder why? Is this just one person's take on the bf? I wonder if this guy knows more than Dr Nimen, or President Bush, or Michael Leavitt? No worries? I hope a lot of people don't hear the remarks of that person, whoever he is. Our best hope as a nation in the US and other nations in the world is to be prepared.

This was a Brownsfield report done on Sat.June 3,2006. This is the same site who announced that a report was coming today.  It was THE BIGGEST DOWNPLAY I have heard yet.  Did you notice he said "there are no reports of human deaths"  WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! Where does this guy get his sources??????  I am going to e-mail him and give him WHO and CDC reports.  How many people will hear this and slug it all off.....they are a agricultre news agency, so the farmers are getting this info.AngryDeadAngryDead

raptureready

This is exactly what I was afraid would happen when I read the article  or versions of this article:

Looks like who ever that was on the radio, had that article and maybe also a lack of news that day. UGH.

Hi Linda,
What I meant when I said the Leavitt cancelled and so also did the
Governor.
They had a meeting scheduled with Health Officials through out the State in downtown Detroit.  At the last minute Leavitt and Granholm cancelled out.  Instead of an actual planning of the current situation, presentations re: the History of the Bird Flu  and really no information was gleened from the meeting.  One of our contributors here posted it under Michigan before they switched to the seperate state board.  He actually attended. Was quite disappointed.

Regarding that audio Brownsfield report:
I sat here, listening, and the anger boiled over. Angry IDIOT!
Talk about spreading icing over a pile of crap!
I wanted to shove a bird in his mouth and call it Candy. <LOL! Ok, that really makes no sense (and is just plain mean..)
I'm just so angry that he would downplay something that could be very serious and mean LIVES. I don't expect anyone to say anything to panic the public, but come on now! Don't treat the public like a bunch of idiots and make them believe that everything is 'wonderful'. Ok, done venting.

Oh, and one more thing I just have to say (vent).
"Thailand and Vietnam are doing "excellent work" preparing for a possible bird flu pandemic, paying attention to the threat at the highest levels but also helping local communities get ready, the United Nations bird flu coordinator said on Monday."  -Uh, er.. maybe 'cause they are not reporting it ??? Yeah, kind of funny that they have had NOTHING to report at all, while all around them, others do.

Listen to today's conference call live!

Mike Leavitt, Ag Sec Mike Johanns, &  Special Asst for Biodefense Dr. Rajeev Venkayya will discuss preparations for avian influenza in the U.S during a live conference call

If you go to http://www.brownfieldnetwork.com/

then under “Ag Spotlight” click on Avian Influenza Preparations

Windows Media Player will pop up and it says it will be a live conference call at 1pm CDT  (2pm EDT)

You should be able to get this anywhere in the world (my teenage son assures me)

I just listened to the Brownfield audio. This guy is scary, and he makes Rush Limbaugh sound like a Ph.D. My apologies to any Rush fans. But this guy is right up there in the ranks of the self-deluded or outright propagandists simply out there to mislead the public.

What always amazes me about these guys is that their content and delivery are so transparently crafted to deceive, yet somehow many millions of people are taken in by them.

And just as an aside, you DO have to wonder about an online agricultural report that uses as its mental image a "brown field". In my experience, the brown ones are dead. Only green fields are productive.

Does anybody really know if the forecasted "conference call" is real?

What I meant when I said the Leavitt cancelled and so also did the
Governor.
They had a meeting scheduled with Health Officials through out the State in downtown Detroit.  At the last minute Leavitt and Granholm cancelled out.  Instead of an actual planning of the current situation, presentations re: the History of the Bird Flu  and really no information was gleened from the meeting.  One of our contributors here posted it under Michigan before they switched to the seperate state board.  He actually attended. Was quite disappointed.

Thank you

Listen to today's conference call live!

Mike Leavitt, Ag Sec Mike Johanns, &  Special Asst for Biodefense Dr. Rajeev Venkayya will discuss preparations for avian influenza in the U.S during a live conference call

If you go to http://www.brownfieldnetwork.com/

then under “Ag Spotlight” click on Avian Influenza Preparations

Windows Media Player will pop up and it says it will be a live conference call at 1pm CDT  (2pm EDT)

You should be able to get this anywhere in the world (my teenage son assures me)

Yes, it is working!....just as your son assured you.  Right now there is a repeating voice message re the upcoming live teleconference that is to start at 1:00pm CDT.

Also, according to the voice message, afterwards the broadcast is supposed to be posted for those who want to re-listen or who missed it.  Happy listening!!  Smile

"Does anybody really know if the forecasted "conference call" is real?"

hmmmm.  I'm pretty sure. It's supposed to be Secretary of Health & Human Services, Mike Leavitt, Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns, and Special Assistant to the President for Biodefense at the White House Homeland Security Council, Dr. Rajeev Venkayya

It seems to be talking now.
