Greetings friends. As soon as we see another case or two outside of Africa, we will probably go to defcon 5. That will not necessarily mean a pandemic is imminent, but it will mean that life as we know it is about to be disrupted and it will be time to prepare. Level 5 will mean to prepare for home isolation in the short - med term. Thus, level 5 will mean hit the stores.

As soon as I heard the confirmation I started making lists of what we would need to get as soon as possible. Also trying to figure out how many payday I have to work with. A big box store is the last place I would want to be when people decide they should be worried.
Sadly, my kindle won't let me see the level we are at. I'm not worried tho because the regulars on here will talk about it right away so I won't be too far behind |

Hi Albert, we are entering new territory here. I don't know how this will play out. I expect this first notice of Ebola in the USA to wash over without much reaction. I wonder how much time before mass hysteria sets in?
Clustering in the western world has been my sign to get moving. I agree that we go to Devcon 5 at this point. We will know in 21 days if others get ill from this first case October 21 |

A slight panic will probably start in a few days as the incubation clock on this potential outbreak keeps ticking.

Why October 21?
Did he not present with symptoms prior to being confirmed. I would think October 10-14 would be a more likely time to see additional cases. |

Both right. Yes most likely 10 to 24 Oct but the full incubation period is required for certainty of containment.

I am already increasing the prepping. I am making apple butter today and hubby is stuffing sausage. I will be closing the doors when we have clusters in Canada. Hopefully that won't be too late.
