I don't remember the name of the product I saw on TV but it was a pasta & veggie cooker/steamer in a heavy glass cylinder and you just added boiling water and let sit. Has anyone seen this ad &/or ordered it? If so, can you tell me the name of the product or the website? And if anyone has tried this product, can you tell me if it's any good. I think it would be a great savings on fuel when used for cooking if it really does work like the ad says.

I have recently purchased a dog brush from those kinds of ads and it doesn't work. It is suppose to collect dander and hair. I brush my dog and haven't found a hair on the brush.

Thanks for the laugh angel, I really needed it. Sorry the brush was a disappointment. I thought this sounded too good to be true but I was tempted to check it out. Despiration and insanity is setting in I guess.

Hey fritz, I remember seeing a post somewhere around here about using a thermos bottle the same way. You might want to do a search for the post. The idea is that a very well-made thermos will keep water extremely hot for long enough to cook pasta, oatmeal, etc. The post recommended a certain stainless steel thermos. Look into it-- (after I read that post I kept thinking about it, then this very week someone gave me a nice steel-interior thermos bottle for free. I'm going to try it) Best-- cupcake

Hey guys the name of the thermos that you are looking for is Stanley . I bought it at walmart for aroud $20 maybe less. I'ts stainless steel and 1 quart in size. I think i got the info, off of this forum a while back. It seems like you can make all kinds of good stuff with this one item. You might want to look up thermos cooking.

FYI: JUST THE OTHER NIGHT ON THE NEWS THEY TOOK THE PASTA,VEGGIE STEAMER AND MIXER TO A WELL KNOWN CHEF AND TESTED IT TO SEE IF IT WORKS. YOU ADD THE BOILING WATER SEAL IT AND LET IT SIT FOR 7 MINUTES THEN DRAIN AND ADD SAUCE. THE CHEF DID IT WITH 2 DIFFERENT TYPES OF PASTA AND THEN ASPARAGUS(SP?) AND HE WAS VERY IMPRESSED. HOPE IT HELPS |

This is the only way I've ever cooked pasta... works great, no worries about
"boil-overs". Like the thermos idea though |

Hi! Sunset you are so.... right! I completely forgot. That's how I do chicken now. I saw Sarah Moulon do it on the food network. She recomends cooking chicken this way for chicken salad because it comes out so moist. Just bring the water to a boil, put the chicken in, bring water back to boiling turn heat off and let sit for one hour. It really works and comes out great every time. I did put in some chicken breasts in once that were too thick and they were a little undone(pink) in the middle so I have made sure that the pieces were not too big or thick and it's been ok since then. Thanks for all the info guys. It's been really helpfull. :>} I will use my $ for pasta. Actually, I was thinking about buying chicken breast and cutting it into small pieces, vacume sealing and freezing for easy cooking latter on. Like boil in a bag. But if no pwr than no freezer and that would be a dumb idea i guess. But it could make it easier to cook up at last minute prep time. ?? dunno I originally hadn't planned on the pwr going out so soon in this thing. Makes prepping that much harder. |

Thanx spoon, I've never seen this type of cooker before. (too much of a city chick I guess....haha) They look really cool but are a little out of my budget range for right now cause I think I'm gonna die when I see my credit card bill if it comes before BF gets here!!lol :>} I'm saving the sites and if things are cool in a couple of months I will definately look into getting one of these. thanks again, much appreciated.
