When I first saw this picture I thought "How terrible, what a way to spread covid-19",  but then I realised that this is the look of a country that has managed to control the virus,  Well done Australia

I agree, Carbon.  But there's something to be said for gettin' while the gettin's good.  If you haven't had any new infections there's no reason why people can't have a break from the tedium of shutdowns and stay at home.  Especially if testing continues and any microclusters can be caught before the virus makes it's way into the general population.

The Australian government has terminated its agreement with Australian biotech company CSL Limited to supply 51m doses of a Covid-19 vaccine being developed by the University of Queensland, after vaccine trial participants returned false positive test results for HIV.

To ensure that the vaccine induced the right immune response, the clamp chosen comprises two fragments of a protein found in HIV, as those fragments provided the greatest stability to the vaccine. Adding those fragments to the spike protein is completely harmless.

Trial participants were advised of the possibility that vaccine-induced HIV antibodies might be detected as a result, but it was nonetheless unexpected. Subsequent HIV tests provided definitive negative results in the trial participants.

DJ-No doubt some now will claim ALL Covid19 vaccines spread AIDS....not based on the real story...

Problem with a vaccine that gives a positive HIV-test is that it makes HIV-testing less reliable...in communications "testing positive for HIV after vaccination"-even if the test result is false as far as it has anything to do with the vaccination-will remain a major problem. Even if the vaccine for the rest would do a great job..

A false positive=a FALSE positive-so (what I understand) no immunity against HIV...(treatment in HIV/AIDS still is trying to limit spread, limit symptoms...but a vaccine is still far away..). If-by "accident" we would discover a vaccine against HIV this would be very welcome good news...HIV/AIDS this year killed almost the same number of people-so far-then Covid19 [url]https://www.worldometers.info/[/url] or https://www.worldometers.info/ 1,605,000 HIV/AIDS-Covid19/SARS2 1,620,000...

Here in NZ is the following news story about people fleeing Sydney ahead of the new restrictions. Surely they'll be taking the virus with them to the rest of Australia?
