I would like to draw the attention of the forum about the pandemic phases divided by WHO. The recent debate on pandemic phases by subject specialist wants to keep the pandemic phases only and also wanted to exclude the periods eg. Prepandemic, pandemic alert periord etc. The phases are:
Phase 1: Limited to animal only
Phase 2: Widespread animal infections limited to animal only Phase 3: Human case without human to human transmission Phase 4: Few cases of human to human transmission: Rapid Containment Phase Phase 5: Established human to human transmission: Pandemic response Phases (Geographical spread): Phase 6: Spread of Diseases: Geographical spread
Evaluation of Pandemic response: Post Peak „X Immediate post-peak period „X Possible new wave Evaluation of response, revision of PIPR plans: Post Pandemic „X Post pandemic period Phase 1, 2 & 3: Predominantly animal infections with limited human transmission, as per probability of pandemic phase 1, 2 and 3 are Uncertain Phase 4 is medium to high Phase 5 high to certain Phase 6 certain Question: What is your opinion on it.
and If a country have huge outbreaks in poultry and a single human case of H5N1 is there, what will be status of that country, is it should be in the pandemic alert phase?
