Hello all I just arrived. I was just watching a guy from a Uk medical journal called "The Lancet" (I think it was John Mackormal?) on Sky news, they asked him how we could tell if in the family group clusters in Turkey had been cases of B2H, H2H or a mixture of both, and he stated that to get this information would be a massive genetic undertaking involving samples from all those in the family infected plus samples from the wider community and the time it would take (to establish B2H then H2H combinations)would be very lengthy, hopefully sky news will put the article online soon, but you have to ask the question if this is true, how could the WHO even hazard a guess at the true causes of these clusters? Its impossible to rule out H2H transmition without this data.
The 100+ suspected cases are a huge worry, the 14 cases so far confimed by the WHO seem to be from a few very strange set of circumstances (according to WHO) 1) Kids play "Pass the chicken head" apparently one cluster was caused by parents slaughtering ill chickens and then giving the kids the heads to play with..............
2) Kids play "Pass the glove" another cluster caused by a 65 year old man who wore protective gloves to go collecting dead birds to be taken away, apparently he then went home and gave the protective gloves to his pre schoolers to have a game of "pass the glove"...........
3) Kids play "Kiss and hug the dead diseased chicken" the third cluster being caused by an 8 year old girl who on discovering dead birds decided to kiss and hug them........
So thats it then, its obviously not H2H transmition!!!!!!!!!
Its becoming a farce more akin to an episode of south park than a serious world threat. |

It has always been like that..ever since this has started..they say it takes weeks and weeks to test..but by the time the results are back won,t matter, because someone somewhere has probably got on a plane and infected all in the airport and on the plane and then all from the airport and the plane get into a taxi,or go to a restaurant and worse go home....
The news on avain flu has always been slow..look at the report today about the child that died of it in Thailand(maybe Veitnam) and it happened in Dec... |
