I hope I was not too offensive for some - - - my wife was diagnosed with a non-Alzhiemers type of dementia way back in 2008 so sometimes a dark humour is needed to keep the depression at bay. The news report was scary in many ways, not least for family members who might be called on to be caregivers (as there won't be enough professional staff for all those who will need care in the future). |

I think humor is good medication ! On topic-we do not know enough of long covid to give realistic long term perspectives-in my idea. For the many millions suffering from chronic long term health issues of long Covid it may be worth realizing perspectives will be different from person to person. Given the extreme large number of long-covid cases it will get top-priority to limit long term damage. Age may matter-the younger proberbly the better perspectives (and "young-in-mind" can be a factor !). Looking at chronic Q-fever, ME-CFS, Lyme-disease (etc). there is some progress. Do not give up hope ! But try to stay informed the best you can, connected the best you can AND protected the best you can ! I think a lot of long covid patients could turn out to be extra vulnarable for new variants/reinfections due to organ damage and limited immunity. Supplements and BMI 22-27 to have some reserves-I think-are not a bad idea. One of the "bad news" factors is as long as there are that many new cases long covid can not get the attention needed. It will take a lot of testing, X-rays/MRI's etc. to get a realistic view of what-per person-are the perspectives... |

Edwin, I also share your concerns on the topic. Jill and Becky are professionals and take very good care of both of us. We don't have many options for services other wise. They do need some down time and we try to give them a few days a week off. We have a sub ( Brenda ) who comes in and helps about two days a week so Jill and Becky can take care of their families. My boss is very supportive of my ZOOM work and will move heaven and earth to keep me there working. One of my concerns is for burnout. Vicki needs a lot of care and i can't provide most of it. We need to help our helpers. Jill and Becky have year long contracts and that makes it very hard to do a change. The insurance company is backing us up to the max. Dad's old boss is a miracle worker. He saved our lives. The bills keep piling up but they are paid in full. I hope you find peace, Edwin. |
