DJ-I do not have statistics for it but some deep earthquakes are followed (causing ???) stronger less deep quakes....

DJ, It could have been much worse...Should we still expect increased earthquake risks ? Lots of seismic events seem to be overdue, isostatic seismic events-less landice in many places- further increasing seismic (and volcanic) risks...

I do not think earthquakes -now- can be "predicted" however calculated risks for certain area's should be possible. In combination with building codes/safe houses/schools etc. and better early warning maybe up to 90% of deaths from quakes could be prevented....

Translating this earthquake risk story to pandemic risks; better monitoring, decrease of meat production, less (air) travel does decrease pandemic risks....Masks limit risks for aerosol spread infections/contact spread already for centuries....(people often touch their face-also spread infection-there should not be ANY !!!! discussion on the value of masks....It is beyond insane we now even see "crazy people" claiming masks do not work...they worked during the Spanish Flu, the Black Death, lots of other crises...).
