Most of the people around me who received the flu vaccination last October have still gotten sick over the last couple of weeks.

I'm curious if anyone else here has gotten the flu this year despite getting the vax?

Yes, we got it at our house about three weeks after the flu shots. Was a tough strain this year. It has taken us almost a month to completely get over the symptoms and feel fully recovered. I hate to imagine getting a flu like that when I am older.

We all had the flu shots in October and none of us have been sick, except with minor sinus and allergy type stuff.  I have not been drinking out of water fountains (using bottled water) and washing hands more often also and trying to avoid sick people.

I had a flu shot, and about 3 weeks latter I got something, nothing major, I don't know what it was maybe a cold. I haven't had as much as a cold for over 20 years, I am one of those People that couldn't catch a cold if they wanted too, until now. It has gone now. No more flu shots for me.

I have not had a flu for 10yr...family came into town with a "bug" and it hit me right between the eyes. For two weeks it would come and go..I am glad for the flu shot or it would have been a lot worse..I know that for a fact...the only reason I got over it..I went to Las Vegas for a week alone..I feel much better.

No flu at our house (she says with her fingers and toes crossed) and we got the shot in October.  All three of my family are exposed to the public, two of us in schools.

Back at the end of September, all through October and November I was sick...I had to do a z pack..and two other rounds of antibiotics..which I hated but the headaches were horrible...and I felt terrible...a few other people I know have the same thing and cant understand why they havent gotten over it and have had to return to the dr several times....so far...Ive stayed well since about the beginning of December but it took a serious toll on me...I would start to feel better and then I would bottom out in 2 seconds flat...it was horrible!!! My throat hurt in the beginning and then I had these horrible headaches...ran low grade temp the whole time. All I wanted to do was sleep...

Myson and I have something now.

I am feeling a little better today, but man was I sick. I felt just awful... I did internet research to see if it was a cold or the flu and to be honest, it didn't quite act like either.

Example: my son and I both had a fever...colds don't usually give adults a fever.

but then the net says colds don't usually cause stuffy noses, sore throat and sneezing either, and we have that.

Anyhow, this is by far the worst SOMETHING I've ever had.... I was even nauseaous..... and the headach was severe....

BY FAR, the worst was the cough.....

My son's still sick, and he has ashtma so I am very worried about him.

Neither of us had the flu shot.

Sounds like you had what I've had and I think everyone here in NC State Univ has had.  It's the most contagious mess I've ever seen AND you can catch it multiple times!

I somehow managed to infect my mom and sister over the holidays even though I was well on the mend and wasn't sneezing anymore and washed my hands often.

Oh well!  To me the worst part was how tired I was all the time.  Never seemed to be able to sleep enough.

It took me a long time...the tiredness has never gone away...but if there is one piece of advice I can give you its take hot bathes with lavender epsom salt and put vicks on your face and stay in bed...all of this just may be pampering but I swear it helped!!!
