Albert -- Why do feel that Rodier would be less than truthful? What could possibly be gained by trying to hide a problem that in the end can not be hidden? I am asking out of pure interest, because if we can't trust the WHO an other agencies then what do we have? |

He is trying to avoid a "Super-Panic". Everything associated with the superflu is on a large scale, including the panic. They're getting a taste of the super-panic right now in Turkey.... So to answer your question, the WHO obviously considers the panic itself to be worse than the BF plague. Except, the panic won't cost lives like their current strategy will. What they are doing right now by concealing information, as they sit on the frontlines, will hurt everybody. We have to depend on them so we can have a fighting chance. Last I heard, H5N1 was the deadliest disease in human history. If we are going to have a fighting chance, we need to know EVERYTHING. IMO, to avoid a panic, they would rather let it get us by surprise. I will admit, the panic associated with the super bug will be bad . Everything associated with this is bad., but at least we would have a chance. |

I agree that they are acutely aware that they are being watched by all the world. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that the information being released must be verified and re-verified before released to the public. Remember what happened with the swine-flu scare of the 1970’s. They must be as cautious about what they say now as the federal reserve chairman has to be when he talks about the economy. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt for now. |

Think about this too. We never received ANY confirmaton that the "explosion" of cases during the outbreak ever even slowed down. The reason, IMO, is because it never did slow down and it's continuing at this very moment. It could be getting even worse? Based on the three days of news before the WHO arrived, this thing was exploding. Not one person yet, including the dishonet Turkey officials , have indicated that it is under control or slowing down by any means. Trust me, until we hear other wise, it never slowed down from last week. That's why we need to know EVERYTHING.
