Since we have around 1700 good email addresses, I was thinking about sending an email blast to anyone who has ever registered here in the past. Perhaps we can give all of the old former members an update via email of where things are today, etc ...
We could also start the first ever avian flu weekly newsletter, if anyone ever had the time to put it together.
Anyway, we'll shoot for next Monday for the target date to get the mass email out. Possibly sooner.

Albert you work so hard here. Thankyou very much. Your ideas are endless. If you ever decide to post the email that your sending out to everyone or the newsletter we could send it to our family and freinds also. Just a thought. |

Thanks PG & Penham. If somebody would like to create a newsletter sometime, I would be happy to send it out weekly. Perhaps we could all work on it together in the Members Only forum.
After thinking about it, the best way to spark some awareness back into Panflu prep is to email anyone who has ever had any interest in it in the past, which makes up a lot of our former members who we lost contact with over the last few years. Our email list could be the last best hope to bring some interest back, so it's probably worth a shot.
I probably don't have to mention that every troll that has ever visited us in the past will also receive the initial email.

Very good to hear from you 7laws. I've seen you regularly coming by for the last couple of years and I appreciate you sticking with us. I too prefer to mostly read, when possible. No need to ever post if you don't feel like it.
All the best 7laws,
A

Either way you slice it, there isn't another flu site around that has nearly the amount of (valid) emails as we do. Probably not even a fraction of what we have. It makes sense to try and put the list to use if we're the only ones in a position to try it. Therefore, I suppose it's one of those things that we have an "obligation" to try, lol.
I also wouldn't mind regularly pushing the pneumonia vax in a weekly newsletter.
... Along with regular news updates, etc ...

Thank you Albert. It seems that lately the posts have become more argumentative than informative. I also was considering looking for another BF site. Maybe your idea would put things back on track.
God bless. Jo

Sounds like a very good idea! I've been a long time reader, but hardly post at all, so much so I had to re-register today just to post this. This is a wonderful forum and I believe a email list with a newletter format could prove to be a powerful tool to keep members updated as well as an instument to educate others who are not prepping. |

Thanks again gang. Unfortunately we're running about a week behind. In order for us to send the email campaign, we have to first manually go into each member profile and extract a copy of each email addy. It's going to take several hours to do this, but fortunately the wife will do this project for only $200.00. lol.
We should be ready by next Monday.

Hi Albert,
I think a newsletter is good esp if it falls under the topic of ANY DISASTER PREPAREDNESS. I think its something people need to better equip themselves for, for a multitude of reasons. People need to assume personal responsibility for these issues rather than thinking the govt would protect them in case of disaster. |

Well there she is....
I think that's a good idea BG. Normally, the whole concept of "disaster preparedness" falls on deaf ears, primarily because there isn't a natural disaster that poses any sort of threat against the vast majority of the U.S. Therefore, the general public as a whole usually can't identify with "disaster preparedness". People need to see a threat of disaster, or it's useless. Now, if we mix the two concepts of strictly "Panflu prep" and "disaster preparedness", and keep the rest of the disasters out of it, then it could actually gain some legs. People are driven to prep out of fear and responsibility, but again there are no other current disasters that are really much of a threat to anyone. That's just the reality of it. What they all need is a good dose of AFT.

Recently heard they are predicting a MAJOR devastating earthquake is due to hit southern CA in the next 30 years with 100% accuracy. |

I live in There is only one disaster that warrants prepping, but unfortunately it's the one that the government tends to keep a lid on. If the Fed Gov wants people to prep for general disaster preparedness, then they will have to lead the way by pointing out a disaster that people can identify with as being able to disrupt and threaten their normal lives. Trying to get people to prep for any random disaster without mentioning pandemic flu is like being a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest. It's a tough one to win.

I think Bioterrorism and Pan Flu would be equally likely to cause severe disruption in our lifetime. Being self sufficent would be good common sense in any type of disaster but of course there are different provisions for different types. based on geographic area etc.
I could also see some of these drug resistant diseases spiraling out of our control causing a modern day type plague, which AI could become |

That's the key though Babygirl, "you" can see the reason because you're more educated in these areas as compared to the "average" person. We have never had a bioterrorism attack so the average person can't identify with it, therefore people won't prep because of it. Most people have also never personally experienced any natural whatsoever. "drug resistant" diseases emerging along with plagues also doesn't do much to alarm people, at least not me. Plagues are very rare and are unlikely to happen. There is really only one that poses a huge threat to humanity as a whole, and which happens to be at our doorstep. A disease that can potentially spread as easily as the common cold, and that is also one of the deadliest diseases ever discovered, could be something worth worrying about.

Albert: Been down with a nasty flu, haven't been able to log in until now. I like your idea and will offer to help create a newsletter. I say help create because it looks like my health isn't what I thought it was. BTW, if this is even close to AF, we're in a lot of trouble, cuz it hit me like a Mack truck and kept me down for almost 2 weeks. D

I'm glad you're starting to feel better D. Prior prepping comes in handy when dealing with the regular flu or any sickness.
I also appreciate the offer on the Newsletter. I will probably have very little to do with that part of it, so we will leave it up to you all on how to structure it, etc..

A: I totally agree with your assessment of the benefit of prior prepping. Since I was too sick to drive to the store, I just shopped my preps for chicken noodle soup, jello, saltines and meds. If I hadn't had preps, I would have been in a lot of trouble. See, it really pays off! D
