I went to the clinic to get it.Waited an hour, then I was told I couldn't have it. The nurse was coming from the docter talking about the CDC. I said to her that as I was going to HK I would like the shot because of the flu season there and I never said the CDC recommended it. She told me it would not prevent the flu and I said I realize that, but it would help for pneumonia that can come from the flu. She was trying not to laugh which really irritated me. As I am 46 with no chronic conditions they can't give it.

I then went to the pharmacy near my home and got one for 40.00 cash.

Does anyone know how long the childrens vaccines protect them ,until what age?

Since my children are 9 and 10 they are too young for AND 2 old for available options.

Expertise??

If your kids got it when they were babies, then they should be fine...I believe the vaccine is good for 10 years?  There is an age where they will not vaccinate kids - my nephew can't get one either.  Just keep the masks on when this does hit....

Did you have the appointment for the Pneumonia vaccine?  I mean, did the doctor know that is why you were there?

Are they having a shortage???  Why were they laughing?  It's really NONE of their business why you are wanting the vaccine, and unless they are in shortage, they should have given it to you, without a bunch of grilling.  Don't let it bother you...

I went to the pharmacy and asked if they knew where I could get a pneumonia shot and they said "here" I said okay filled out a form, paid and got it 15 minutes later. They wanted to give me a flu shot but I wanted to wait. I want to get my allergy test redone the (egg thing). Also if I get to HK like I hope the flu shots are different strains. So thought I may try to get one there depends on how risky it is to go near the clinic.

My daughter is 10 now and my son is nine. When can they get another dose?

That clinic is a mess the nurses new whether the docter knew I guess not. They just thought I was foolish.
