Viruses might be killed in the microwave, but not by the microwave. Only if the heat rose high enough would they be killed. Even bacteria in microwaves, contrary to conventional wisdom, don't die from the radiation, they die from the heat.

I ended up stripping one shelf and wiping everything down with bleach solution, wiped out cupboard, let it air dry and repacked.
I said in my previous post my cupboards are like a jigsaw puzzle, spraying wouldn't penetrate.

My neurotic is showing !!!

I've often wondered if putting things in a microwave oven for a few seconds would kill off viruses?

What do you think?

When H1N1 cases were apparent, any food, canned, box, everything that came into the house I wiped down with bleach solution before stocking the cupboards. This time I didn't assuming no sustained spread has occurred. Now with D Campell explanation of the ability of this virus to last 28 days,I question my decision not to. My cupboards are packed like a food jigsaw puzzle. What do you all do ?
