Chuck has been saying that for weeks.

I know this site is brilliant, but how come we are ALWAYS ahead of the 'official' line?  Aren't they supposed to employ the best people?

Yes, way ahead of the curve here. I feel more knowledgeable than many just beginning their learning curve. A very special place. Historic even. Albert, be sure to have back up of site, it may be interesting for future reference.

Fecal shedding was even shown from an infected, asymptomatic infant. Huge levels.

Stay out of public bathrooms, is my approach. If I have to use them, bring disinfect wipes, portable Lysol bottle spray, etc. Use paper towel for handles, etc. That's what I've been doing already.

I try to go now before I leave the house and not drink anything when I am out running errands!

So, I keep seeing over and over again in the media "the chances of getting this are low" "there's a very low chance" "chances are still low" etc. Trying to keep the masses from panicking?

Does anyone think WHO is going to call this a pandemic anytime soon?

The first time I hear of a case in my area, that's it...I'm SIP.

I presumed that's why the Chinese medical staff were wearing diapers.  To stop them using the hospital toilets ( as well as saving time taking in and off all their protective gear).

The UK government's /NHS advice for self isolation it says if sharing a bathroom the case should  use it after everyone else, they should use a bleach based cleaner down the toilet before flushing, after a few minutes they must put the toilet lid down before flushing to limit aerosol, as coronavirus is present in urine and faeces.  Then allow as much time to let the aerosol particles time to settle before next person uses.  Lastly clean all surfaces where aerosol could land.

I think they just copied and pasted this from their winter vomiting Norovirus page but changed it to coronavirus

Thanks, Techno!  I noticed that SARS was spread by sewage aerosols back in 2003, so I put 2 plus 2 together for COVID-19.

This is why it is so important to wash our hands WHEN WE ARE OUTSIDE OF OUR HOMES!  Don't worry to much if you are home alone, LOL!!   Your risk of community infection is from touching drinking fountain handles, door handles, surfaces in public toilets particularly.  In the best of times, public toilets have a nice, thin film of fecal material & bacteria all over them, and conventional cleaning is rarely effective.  (think the janitor cleans the handle on the door for your stall?)

I work in Infection Control for major hospitals, Infectious Disease Epidemiology for law enforcement, and other fun stuff.  My colleagues and I have prepped for another SARS-like outbreak for years, and as Techno points out, the AFT crowd is often far ahead of the official line.  We are not afraid to speak our minds.

Be safe, everyone, I'm not seeing anything that is causing me to freak out.

My battle plan is that if one of us gets it, that person will use a composting toilet. We have a homemade one that is portable and the great thing about it is that there is no flushing, so no aerosolization of liquids or fecal particles. We would then compost the contents. I think it would work really well.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
