Only if they can get the hospice type treatment at home (eg enough pain killers etc). I am on another forum (for the condition my wife has) and hospice is held in very high regard there. But I wonder if needing to slow community spread it would be best for patients to be together rather than having hospice nurses going from house to house. [I have no good answer to this - as my wife is nowhere near the hospice stage - so I am just musing out loud] |

If that is the case they shouldn't even take people to the hospital when they are over 65. Leave them at home to die in peace. |

What a terrible decision to have to make. I read earlier this week of a hospital that was not ventilating anyone over the age of 65. And that when a younger person came in, older people were literally being unplugged from the machine and given pain killers and the ventilator was being given to the younger person. |

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

A sobering read... "Across the U.S., there could be as many as 31 patients requiring ventilation for every machine available, according to an article published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine. The shortage could be just as severe in California." |

If it's to be - it's up to me!
