DJ-Part of "the mystery" could be in slower immunity/infection in some people. They may get infected prior to vaccination but could have a longer incubation period. Most in old people vaccination can take up to three weeks-while in younger people two weeks may be enough-to get (a level of) immunity.

There was a story from China that it took 29 days from infection to symptoms...It is very likely vaccines DO offer good protection but not when you may already be infected...

The CDC reported 59% a/pre-symptomatic spread. So a lot of people vaccinated then showing signs of Covid19 most likely already were infected-no "break through" at all.

But variants may evade vaccinations. Proberbly so far that number may be limited but is very likely to increase (due to vaccination selection-vaccination does stop the variants that can not get around vaccine immunity...).

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

Your theory that they were already infected holds no water with me. My doctor who got COVID in January this year was vaccinated in late November   That is at least one example   It was the South Africa strain and she had Pfizer

As far as I can see, none of the current Covid vaccines actually promise immunity. All of them say it's still possible to get Covid once fully vaccinated, but if you do, then hopefully you won't develop serious complications or need hospitalization. All of them say you will still be infectious and can infect others, you'll just be more likely to be asymptomatic. All the governments know this which is why vaccinated people are still being told to wear masks and social distance themselves.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

Maybe that particular vial of vaccine wasn't up to scratch.....

maybe someone stuffed up hard to say ,

However with every medical intervention from picking a spot to heart surgery there is no guarantee's......

Take care all πŸ˜·πŸ˜‰

There have never been, will never be 100% perfect vaccines ! Usk-your doctor may be in the 5% margin that did get vaccinated but was not in the 95% that did get protection.

Actually KiwiMum is correct here.  Being vaccinated makes it less likely, but not impossible to get Covid, but seems to all but prevent severe illness and hospitalization.

Like all medicine, it is a numbers game.

Get vaccinated and reduce your risks.  But REDUCE not eliminate.
