As the title would suggest we all have Covid in this household. Infact it looks like it is everywhere in my area. We know many people with Covid (family, friends and work colleagues) and nearly all the cases are connected to children from schools, nursery or playgroups. |

Hope you all get well soon...Any GP/hospital contact ? Do you have/use oximeters to see oxygen level in blood ? Even if breathing does not "feel/look" bad ! The "two-step disease" does look not unusual...often the second "gulf" of disease may be worse...but with BA.1 maybe it may still stay "mild.. Keep us informed and get well soon ! Your story only showing that even if you are aware of the risks there are limits to what people can do to protect themselves... |

My covid was hell on earth. Once positive I went quickly to the best place I could find. I got the best doctor I could find, and I got a plan of action. We were airlifted to Baylor and sent to ICU. We were very lucky to have the best doctors and the best staff. Jill and Becky were the best nurses we ever had. So we hired them. The bill was around 10 milllion dollars total so far for 9 months plus of treatment and that includes the second round with covid. We now have the finest isolation unit in 3 states. The second bout was Delta. I saw so many die and yes we were very lucky. Just remember, if your breathing starts to get hard, you need to go to the ER. Don.t wait. |

Littlesmile, are you familiar with the work of Dr Chetty of S. Africa? What you are experiencing is the second stage of Covid that he has observed and it is a type of allergic reaction, in Covid's case to the spike protein. His work is widely respected and he says that day one is the first day that you get sypmtoms. Most people start to feel better by about day 5 or 6, but then some people (you and your family) take a sudden downturn on day 8. He recommends that ASAP you each take an asprin (to act as an anticoagulent and disperse any blood clots that are forming) and an antihistamine to quell the allergic reaction. Do this twice a day for the next 7 days. He also prescribes a steroid for severe cases, his favourite being Prednisone. You don't have steriods to hand probably so stick with the asprin and antihistamine, one tablet, twice a day. And put it this way, those aren't going to hurt you in any way. If you can, add a quercetin capsule and a high powered zinc tablet too. Please let us know how you're getting on, and get well soon. |

I have a cousin in the UK who had it in Oct and she had that traditional progress of feeling better by the end of the first week and then being absolutely floored by it and being in bed for the next 3 weeks. Another cousin, also in the UK, had the same but ended up in hospital on the Covid ward for 10 days despite being vaccinated. Unfortunately we hadn't discovered Dr Chetty by then. I currently have a cousin in Mexico who is on day 6 of her covid and feeling great, so we've had long chats about Dr Chetty's protocol and she's got her anti histamines and asprins all lined up just in case. She's been lucky enough to get Ivermectin, which they sell without prescription there, and she took that as soon as she got a positive test result. We're all watching her with interest. Get well soon. |

Hi Little smile.has kids and here in UK asprin is banned in kids due to Reyes syndrome. Adults can still take it. Interesting you can still use in NZ. While I appreciate adults who want to take ivermectin can make that choice, and I appreciate Kiwimum is not promoting it in kids.. but. Please Please don't give it to kids. Overdosing are turning up in hospital even here in Scotland. Read in paper about baby being given a double dose and also having it rubbed on feet as a forum ( not this o e) advised him to do this. Will post link. Quote from BNF The use of aspirin in children under 12 has been banned in the United Kingdom since 1986, and in April this year the Committee on Safety of Medicines warned that it should also be avoided in children up to 15 if they were feverish. Also Omicron causing more croup in kids than Delta did. Stay strong, hope you better tomorrow and horrible when kids are ill. Hazelpad, I'd hope that Littlesmile would show some commonsense. She's not an idiot. And no, asprin is not banned in NZ, and why should it be? Honestly there are idiots in every country in the world, but most people are not idiots. You could probably overdose on anything if you had enough of it. Apparently you can kill yourself by potassium poisoning if you eat 300 bananas in one sitting! It's a bit like carrying a dangerous weapon. In the right hands a cricket bat is a dangerous weapon. Governments have got to stop trying to mitigate for every low IQ out there. I was sitting eating my breakfast yesterday and my youngest son came in, looked out the window and then left the room. He returned a moment later with a .22 rifle, and without saying a word, he put a magazine in the rifle, leaned it on the verandah rail and shot a magpie through the head with one shot over about 45 meters. He then removed the magazine, checked the chamber, said outloud "this gun is now safe", and then he turned to me and said "morning mum" before leaving the room and putting the rifle back in the gun cabinet. He's technically a child but he has common sense. We don't baby him. He's been well schooled in all things gun related and we trust him to shoot responsibly. We've got to treat adults like that too. Most people aren't idiots and they don't need mothering by the state. I would be very surprised if Littlesmile started overdosing her family on asprin, antihistamines or ivermectin. |

Sorry for the rant! Honestly I'm fed up with authorities trying to police the minutiae of our lives. Where does it end? We're limited to buying 2 packs of loo roll, I hear that paracetamol in some countries is only sold in tiny packets to stop people overdosing but obviously the authority who made this stupid decision hasn't counted on a person buying a pack in each shop they come to. It's all madness. We're all being treated, and spoken to, as if we are toddlers. |

i have shot coyotes and stupid dumb rattlers (snakes). I have shot deer and some pretty nasty wild pigs. I have common sense to know that you need to handle weapons with the utmost caution. Thank god your kids know how to shoot respectfully and know the laws. We have fewer and fewer people who are rational shooters. |

I hear you on that. There are some complete idiots out there. We keep our guns under lock and key at all times, cleaned and ready for action. I wouldn't trust a dirty weapon. |

Sorry to message this way. Copy and paste. I think it comes up differently but I find it easier to write off and on with textnote. Headaches and screens don't seem to go well together lol. Thank you all for the information. I am thankful for this forum and I hope many others find it as helpful as me. I think information really is key for this virus. |

;-) the info is more ;-(... People are being reinfected immediately again after Omicron infection. We have the data: Both laboratory experiments and actual cases. Evidence from a study showing immunity based upon “mild" Omicron infection is weak for Omicron reinfection, and limited for cross immunity to Delta infection. 2/ https://medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.01.25.22269794v1.full.pdf -DJ As far as I understand BA.1 offers hardly any protection against reinfection...maybe others offer more optimism |

There's some data that suggests immunity is greater for the vaccinated that have had a breakthrough infection. Limited cross-variant immunity after infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant without vaccinationhttps://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.01.13.22269243v1 |

So some of my family's experiences: a niece had Delta in Oct, and caught Omicron two weeks ago. The Delta gave her 5 days of flu like illness, loss of appetite, loss of taste, very bad headache. The omicron felt like a cold and lasted about 3 days. The 3 other members of her household did not catch Omicron despite them all having had Delta with her the first time around. She has tested negative for both bouts of Covid but was still diagnosed with it. No dip in blood oxygen. Yesterday a cousin of mine in Mexico aged 56 had his day 8 crash, had a mild heart attack. The doctor in the ER said that although he is still testing negative, he definitely has covid (his wife tested positive and her illness lasted 48 hours) and that the doctor has seen many people presenting at the hospital like him. No lasting heart damage but he's been put on full strength aspirin for the next month. He's at home recovering now. Blood oxygen went to 85 (it should be around 98, and is worrying if it goes below 93) Another cousin of mine in the UK who is fully vaccinated also had Covid in Oct. Blood oxygen dropped to 80. Paramedics couldn't raise it so he spent 10 days on the Covid ward of a British hospital, on IV steroids, anti coagulents and anti biotics. Was discharged with 30 syringes to self administer each day for a month of anticoagulent. From what I've seen, the problems seems to stem from blood clots and anti coagulents are considered important by the medical staff treating severe cases. I hope you get better soon. |

There have been plenty of doctors out there suggesting a direct link between someone's vitamin D levels and their susceptibility to Covid. Dr John Campbell is a big supporter of this theory and has done many videos on it. Are you all taking a Vit D supplement? |

I just realised my message could be taken wrong. Believe me I do think (and have known) covid to be serious for many people. I am thankful I haven't got Delta. And I could just as easily take sudden serious illness tomorrow for all I know... What I was trying to say is in my opinion that this virus is very unpredictable. I am not great with words and hope I am not taken wrongly... |

Update on cousin in Mexico, right as I type this he is being prescribed anitbiotics for his cough. Littlesmile it sounds like you're having a tough time with it. Keep an eye on your blood oxygen. When one of my children had a illness a few years ago his blood oxygen dropped and the doctor told us that 93% was the point at which they would give oxygen to raise it up a bit. Get better soon and please keep us informed. xx |

So sorry to hear it caught up with you, Littlesmile. I understand, I tested positive last week. I wasn't even going to take the test, but the testing center nurse cajoled me into it and I decided I was going to sit for 10 minutes anyway before heading up the hill. I was pretty shocked it came out positive. I had nothing more than a bit of a snotty nose, slightly rough throat and the eye where there is nerve damage was tearing a bit. Nothing unusual. Nothing I didn't attribute to dry air from steam heat. That being said, I've read reports everybody will get Omicron, vaxxed, boosted or not. The trick is that vaccination lowers chances of serious illness, hospitalization, etc. considerably. When I called my doctor to apprise him of my diagnosis, he offered me Monoclonal antibody, but I declined. I didn't think I needed it, and apparently I did not. He asked me to leave a message for him every day so he can keep an "eye" on any symptoms that might be developing. My last message was Monday saying. I felt fine, my symptoms were gone and I wasn't going to leave messages anymore unless he told me otherwise. My last day of quarantine is Friday. On the other side, my SIL's sister had Omicron and didn't do well at all. Not surprising as she has Lupus. But, there again, no hospitalization. Just a miserable week she is still recovering from. Keep us posted on how you and your family is doing, Smile. |

I'm so glad that you are recovering well LittleSmile. That must take a load off your mind. Years ago I had a wisdom tooth out and my family dentist told me to use a mouthwash made from a teaspoon of sea salt in water. He said it would help my mouth heal faster and that also it's a good one to remember if i ever have a sore throat. Well I've done it ever since. I'm a great believer in saline mouthwashes for any kind of cold or flu. I also use saline in a neti pot and rinse out my nasal passages. |

Salt water is the best 'cure all' go to! I remember my gran taking us to the beach especially for my younger sisters eczema. She believed (and I'm sure was right) that the sea helped her skin. All I know and remember is that we loved when my sister had 'flare ups' lol :-) |
