Totally off topic but sometimes its nice to talk about new important articles. Anyway one of risk factord for covid mortality is Alzheimer's disease probably because patient happy hypoxia symptom will be more suppressed in damaged neurological pathways. However I found this article showing how the plaques can be blown out of our brain by good sleep cycles. This combines with other research showing a similar effect with exercise. Thought it interesting maybe delays onset or prevents but won't stop once started. Hz x Quote The brain's ability to clear a protein closely linked to Alzheimer's disease is tied to our circadian cycle, according to new research. The research underscores the importance of healthy sleep habits in preventing the protein Amyloid-Beta 42 (AB42) from forming clumps in the brain, and opens a path to potential Alzheimer's therapies https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/02/220210154215.htm |

Thanks for posting that Hazelpad. My mother died from dementia and I'm anxious not to go the same way. Interestingly enough, she had appalling sleep patterns that got worse as she aged. She also never exercised in her life after leaving school. So it ties in. |

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

It's not nice to have that over your head but many of the dementia now appear to have environment and lifestyle choices acting on genetics so it probably is not down to genetics alone. Here is link for exercise research came out this month. Quite a good study. Basically even in patients full of toxic proteins linked to cognitive disorders, they had less effect in those that stayed fit and active. HZ x Exercise alters brain chemistry to protect aging synapses: Enhanced nerve transmission seen in older adults who remained active -- ScienceDaily https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/01/220107100955.htm Exercise alters brain chemistry to protect aging synapsesEnhanced nerve transmission seen in older adults who remained active
This protective impact was found even in people whose brains at autopsy were riddled with toxic proteins associated with Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases. |
