Many different emergency meal options present themselves with each having their own benefit whether it be price, quality, ability to self-heat, shelf-life, etc.  These are all very important factors to take into consideration when purchasing emergency food.  I have listed below several emergency food options:

MRE (Meals Ready to Eat)
Food Ration Bars (Mainstay)
Canned Foods (Meats, Fruits, Vegetables, etc)
Freeze Dried / Dehydrated Foods

People also need to be very aware of the need for water during an emergency.  People are supposed to consume 16 oz of water per day, and this does not take into consideration the water needed for sanitation and cleaning.

MREfoods.com (www.mrefoods.com) offers a wide variety of these emergency preparedness and disaster relief food and water items.

MREfoods.com is part of a non-profit organization that provides programs for individuals with disabilities.  Net proceeds from MREfoods.com sales go toward funding these programs.

Current recommendations for water are 8, eight ounce glasses per day which would equal 64 ounces. This amount should be sufficient for most healthy persons who are not in a hot, humid environment or sweating from physical work or exercise and should drink more water, more often.

I must apologize for my error in water calculation.

You are correct, store 1/2 gallon (8 cups) of drinking water per person, per day, and twice that amount in warmer climates.  A person may also want to store 2-3 gallons of water per day, per person for cooking and personal hygiene.

Don't forget extra water if you have pets.
